Edie was 40 years old when she recovered from cancer and decided she wanted to have a family. Despite her urge to have children, the actress was not keen on a romantic commitment.

By 48, she adopted her two children: daughter Macy Falco and son Anderson Falco. The family-like relationship between her and her dog, Marley, inspired her to go with adoption. To this day, the actress remains single, and she once reflected on her relationships with fellow actors.

For Edie Falco, Motherhood Took Great Precedence over Marriage

Edie overcame a lengthy battle with cancer in her second of two serious relationships. Although her relationships failed, she always retained sight of having a family. When she fully recovered from her illness, the actress decided it was time for her to have children.

Edie then decided to stay single and adopt children as she was more sure about wanting a family than wanting a spouse. She adopted Macy and Anderson to complete her dreams of having children after illness threatened her legacy. The actress sees her dog, Marley, as her child, and her connection with the dog inspired the adoption.

Edie's peers became intrusive about her personal life when she revealed her parenthood plans. She said, "You get barraged with questions: "You pregnant yet?" or "What's going on with the adoption?" Basically, every question you don't want to be asked. These are such private matters, and you just want everyone to back off."

However, Edie Falco Had Been in a High-Profile Relationship

When Edie enrolled at the Purchase College State University of New York, she noticed a famous alum plastered all over the campus' posters. This campus hero was Stanley Tucci, who was desired by everyone at the college, including Edie. Edie had just joined when Stanley graduated and immediately began working on Broadway.

He was the prime example of who the film school's students aspired to be. Years later, Edie and the famous alum became acquainted when they were cast in the 2002 "Frankie and Johnny" Broadway show. They were seen together more often, and Stanley shifted away from his wife at the time, Kate Tucci.

Edie got into an affair with the actor while he was married to Kate. She explained that how they got together indicated their relationship wasn't good. She added that they eventually broke up and that Stanley's rekindling with his wife and children was satisfying.

Edie Falco Considers Her "Marriage" with Onscreen-Husband James Gandolfini Her "Longest Intimate Relationship"

Edie was a starring member of "The Sopranos," appearing in 85 episodes as the wife of Tony Soprano, portrayed by now-deceased actor James Gandolfini. She explained that the actor's death shocked her whenever she saw him on the screen. "This is killing me," Edie said while watching old episodes of "The Sopranos."

Edie felt as if her on-screen marriage with James was real, and because they barely spent time together aside from being on set, she always looked at James as Tony, her pretense husband. She refers to their eight-year marriage on TV as her "longest intimate relationship."

The actress felt that aspects of her character on the show — a wife that fights with her husband a lot — earned her the role of Hillary Clinton in "Impeachment: American Crime Story." She joked that while looking for a suitable actress, producer Ryan Murphy thought, "Oh, Edie does fight scenes with husbands."

Edie Falco Is Still Doubtful She Would Ever Tie the Knot

As things stand, Edie is not keen on tying the knot with anyone. The actress has explicitly revealed that she prioritizes her children, Macy and Anderson. She said that her Buddhist faith and her friends are next in order of importance in her life.

If she were to be in a relationship with anyone, she would expect that individual to understand the pecking order of things she cares about. South African-born actress Charlize Theron is another actress who is a single mother of two adopted kids.
