Jordyn Blum Is Dave Grohl's Talented Wife and Mother of His Three Daughters

Cinematographer and director Jordyn Blum is the wife of Foo Fighters founder and lead singer and former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl.

Being the wife of an iconic musician who has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame not once but twice is a challenge that Jordyn Blum took on and triumphed over.

Jordyn Blum is Dave Grohl's wife -- the man who was part of legendary grunge singer Kurt Cobain's band Nirvana, and the founder, singer and songwriter of the Foo Fighters.

Dave Grohl was born in Warren, Ohio, on January 14, 1969, to an award-winning journalist and a teacher. He inherited his musical talent from his father, but when he decided to become a musician, his dad disowned him.

Grohl dropped out of school and started playing in a punk rock band at 15, and in 1990, at 21, he became the drummer for what was to become one of the most influential grunge bands of all time -- Nirvana.

Throughout the last two decades, Blum has been his biggest supporter, even though she prefers to keep a low profile.

After Nirvana frontman Kurt Cobain's death in 1994, Grohl founded the Foo Fighters. He has always resisted being called a rock star, pointing out he neither drinks, does drugs or has a wild lifestyle.

Despite his sedate outlook, Grohl was far from ready for a commitment when he met former model Jordyn Blum. But two years later, they were married.

One night, back in 2001, Grohl went out with late Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins. Hawkins started chatting up a girl, and Grohl was left to talk with her friend, who happened to be Jordyn Blum, an MTV producer.

Grohl joked that Jordyn was his "future ex-wife" and the two exchanged numbers. They dated a few times, but Grohl stopped seeing her because he didn't feel ready for a serious relationship. A few months later, he called Jordyn again. He said:

“I called her up and she said, ‘Wow, I never thought I’d hear from you again.’ So I took her to a restaurant right next door to here. And that was that.”

Even though she has kept a low profile for the last 20 years, Blum has applied her skills and talents on her husband's behalf. She started by directing the Foo Fighters video for "Walking A Line."

She also directed The GQ Men of the Year Awards in 2003, at around the time she married Grohl. The couple have one priority in their lives: family.

Grohl has stated that his family comes first, and when his daughters were born, he became a devoted dad. Throughout the last two decades, Blum has been his biggest supporter, even though she prefers to keep a low profile.

She has no social media presence, and rarely appears in public. One of the few exceptions was when she attended the 65th Annual GRAMMY Awards in February 5, 2023 with their three daughters, Violet, Ophelia and Harper.

Grohl and Blum welcomed their first child, Violet Maye, on April 15, 2006. Three years later, Harper Willow arrived on April 17, 2009; and last but not least, the baby of the family, Ophelia Saint was born on August 1, 2014.

The girls seem to have inherited their mother's beauty, and their father's talent. Violet sings and has already taken to the stage with Grohl, and Ophelia is a budding drummer.

Jordyn Blum and Dave Grohl seem to have done the almost impossible: raised a happy, tranquil family in the middle of the wild world of rock 'n roll.
