Widow Kathie Lee Gifford, 69, Looks 'Homeless' after Tripping on Sidewalk Next to 'Special' Boyfriend
- Kathie Lee Gifford had "disasters" dates after she decided to move on after her husband of 30 years' death.
- The 69-year-old "Today" host found a "special" man who makes her smile.
- The couple spotted for the 1st time together. Fans are shocked by their behavior and look.
Kathie Lee Gifford, the friendly face of the "Today" show, found a man with whom she believes she can spend the rest of her life. However, finding him was a challenging task for the 69-year-old.
Gifford lost her husband of over three decades and was devastated by his passing, but she poured her focus into her children and grandchildren to pull her through one of the most challenging times in her life.

Gifford and her late husband, Frank, were married for thirty years when he passed away in 2015. He was just one week away from his 85th birthday at the time. Sometime after his death, Gifford began moving on.
However, when she began dating, she found that finding another partner would be challenging. Her first date was with a man who did not share her faith, which she said was a problem for her. Although she confirmed she wasn't deterred by that date and joked:
"I'm open to anybody that has their own teeth."

To prove that she was not closed off to dating or spending time out with friends, Gifford advised those who have lost a spouse, saying one had to be open to the possibility of good things in one's life.
She advised those in a similar position to her that they would know when they were ready to get back out there. Gifford admits she went on some dates that were "disasters,” but had a tool to realize it was okay to date again.
Gifford reassured herself that it was okay to date because she was not trying to replace her late husband, but was simply trying to find someone with whom she could spend the rest of her life.

After starting to go out with her friends more often following her husband’s death, Gifford met a man at a bar in Nashville where she had gone to see one of her favorite bands. A man asked her to dance and she agreed, but she later lost him in the crowd.
A few weeks later, when she went back to the same bar to see the same band, he asked her to dance again, and then they went on a couple of dates. While Gifford said it was fun and he was a gentleman, the experience felt strange to her because she hadn't been on a date in 33 years.

Gifford's attitude toward finding someone she could spend her life with was relaxed. She mused:
"You don't find love; love finds you. That's what I'm waiting for. I'm not going out looking for it. God will bring it to me.”

This attitude allowed her to find exactly what she was looking for in the man she's currently dating, but she has been tight-lipped about him, saying she preferred to remain private about their relationship.
Did Gifford Finally Find Someone Special?
In early 2021, after years of trying (and failing) to find the man who could make her happy and share her life again, Gifford was successful. She confirmed her relationship was fun and healthy, and incredibly happy.

When she revealed the news, she was coy about whether or not the new man in her life was a boyfriend and said:
"I'm just happy, and I don't want to mess it up, and I probably already have just by mentioning it."
Yet despite her fears, almost two years after she revealed the news, she and her mystery man are still blissfully happy together. While they do not know what the future holds for them as a couple, Gifford said she has "someone special," and they're happy right now.
Gifford doesn't talk much about her relationship because she believes that keeping their bond private allows it to remain as special as it was initially for the entirety of their union.
Do Gifford and Her Hidden Boyfriend Look "Homeless?"
Fans now know that Gifford's mystery man is Richard Spitz, a businessman in his early 60s. In March 2023, the couple was seen in Hollywood taking a stroll when Gifford took a sudden tumble.
Luckily, her beau was there to help her up and dust her off after her fall. They were walking back home from a workout class when the incident happened. Gifford was not seriously injured and managed to walk all the way back to her home.
They both appeared casual, in comfortable clothing fit for a casual stroll and workout class. However, fans were less than impressed with Gifford and her boyfriend's outfits on the day and expressed their feelings on social media.
A photo of Gifford and Spitz on the day showed Gifford wearing grey sweatpants, slippers, and a beige sweater and matching hoodie. She carried a shopping bag in one hand and her purse in another.

Spitz wore black sweatpants and a plain white crew neck with black sneakers and aviator sunglasses. He also wore a watch and held a coffee cup as the pair walked after their class.
While they looked comfortable and content, fans thought they looked "homeless." One fan even said that Gifford looked like a bag lady and said she had awfully thin legs. Another asked why she had to wear slippers in public.
Other fans thought that she should stop drinking and said that might be the cause of her going out in her pajamas, looking terrible. Another said she was old and that the shoes she wore were wrong.

While there were many nasty comments on the photos of the pair, there were also those that were much more complimentary. Many fans said they were happy to see her happy and wished her nothing but the best with Spitz.
