Katharine McPhee Wants to Have 2nd Baby with 34-Year Older Husband David Foster

Katharine McPhee adores being a mother to Rennie David Foster so much; she would love to have another child with David Foster. However, she and her 73-year-old husband are not in "any crazy rush."

"American Idol" season five runner-up Katharine McPhee went on Jennifer Hudson's talk show in January 2023 to chat about their time on the competition (Hudson made the top seven of season three), being on "Smash," her relationship with Idols mentor David Foster, and motherhood.

Katharine's affirmative response on whether she wants another child was met with cheers from the studio audience. The Broadway star, who turned 39 on Saturday, said, "we'll see," adding that she hopes they do.

David Foster is not concerned about the 35-year age gap between him and Katharine, his wife since 2019. They became friends while filming "American Idol" but claim their relationship only turned romantic in 2017.

In an interview with PEOPLE, the producer philosophized that of all the things that can bring a marriage down, "age difference is just one of them." The couple is confident that they "have it pretty together."

For a long time, the "Waitress" actress' concern over the public option prevented her from pursuing a romance with her former mentor. Going on the "Dr. Berlin's Informed Pregnancy Podcast" in March 2021, not long after giving birth, she insisted that she is in love with their love story, which is all that matters.

Katharine McPhee said on "The Jennifer Hudson Show" that she and her partner can't believe the ride that they have been on. While they were with other "significant others," the "great friends" went on a couple of vacations.
