"Happy Days" was one of the most popular sitcoms of the early 1970s. The characters crept into the hearts of many as they went through life as a happy family who occasionally had some merry misadventures.

Each character held a special place in the hearts of fans, and Marion Ross, who played Marion Cunningham, became the mother that fans worldwide wished they had as their own.

Yet for Ross, she was more than Mrs. Cunningham. She was the breadwinner for her family and took her job very seriously because of the life she could afford to give her husband and children.

Ross was not only the breadwinner in her household, but she was also the chief decision-maker and handled the day-to-day runnings of their home. She confessed that her marriage was never one with balance.

Although Ross would have liked for her husband to be as ambitious as she was and find himself a job he was passionate about, he never did, and she did not resent him for that. Instead, she accepted him as he was and felt sad that life hadn't turned out as he thought it would.

Ross once admitted that she was too busy with her career to worry about her husband. Although not one that most women might have desired, the life she had was precisely what she wanted.

The actress never wanted her husband to care for her; her goal was never to feel weak in a relationship. She assumed she would be "miserable" if she were married to someone who stood in the way of her ambition, which her husband never did.

When Ross was 40, she got divorced. By this time, she had no job and was the mother of two young children. She did not know what to do or who to turn to for help.

To bring in some money and keep herself and her children afloat, Ross began renting out a room in her house. At the height of her poverty, Ross made $35 a day off the room rental and could not even afford to buy a hairdryer.

While Ross suffered through this divorce and her career paused for a while, she finally found her way out of her dark place and began booking roles again. She even found love again and now lives happily.

How Did Ross Find Love at 60?

Ross and her husband divorced in 1968, and for a long time, Ross did not want anything to do with love. Yet, when she met Paul Michael twenty years after her divorce, she knew he was a man she could spend the rest of her life with.

Michael and Ross met because he was producing a play, which he shelved because the theatre burnt down. When he approached a new theatre and asked for a big name to star in his play, they recommended Ross.

The pair's first meeting was something special and nothing that either of them expected from what was meant to be a business relationship. Michael shared:

"So she walked into the room, and she looked like a dream, you know. So I spread my arms like that, and she came right to me. We hugged each other. Nobody introduced us or anything. It was just like that."

The pair then enjoyed an excellent working relationship, and their romantic relationship carried them through many years together. While they were an older couple, they exhibited the young love of teenagers.

Ross and Michael held hands, watched lovingly as the other spoke, and finished each other's thoughts. Ross once said that many people forget it's possible to have a fiery romance later in life, but they were proof that it was possible.

Michael passed away in 2011, leaving Ross all alone once again. Yet she was grateful for their journey. Before he passed away, Michael effused:

"These are the happiest days of my life with Marion. We've had such a wonderful, wonderful ride."

Michael passed away at 84 after succumbing to heart failure. He was survived by his beloved companion, Ross, and his two sons, Matt and Greg. Ross believed theirs was a love for the ages.

How Does Ross Look Now and Where Does She Live?

In the past couple of decades, Ross' career has all but come to a halt. Yet she is still full of life and loves to spend time with her son, Jim Meskimen. Meskimen often posts his mother on social media.

Recently, he shared a video of him and his 94-year-old mother on TikTok. The pair sat at a table and talked about Ross doing impressions. She showed off her Katherine Hepburn impression, and the pair giggled throughout.

At the end of the video, Ross asked the viewers how they were as Meskimen assured fans they were sending them love. Ross then blew a kiss to the camera, and Meskimen waved goodbye.

Fans were delighted to see Ross doing so well and said they loved seeing her impression of Hepburn. One fan said that she loved seeing Ross on the video as she felt like Mrs. Cunningham was her second mother on Tuesday nights when she watched "Happy Days."

Another fan said she looked "wonderful" and called it a "happy day indeed" to see her doing so well after all these years. One fan called her "the bomb." Another fan said:

"She's so sweet. So pretty still!"

While she no longer works as she used to, Ross enjoys spending time in the home she bought with the money she made on "Happy Days." The house is a beautiful wooden home situated in Hollywood.

There are large, white-framed windows all over the house, and an American flag flies proudly at the front. She had adorned her front door with a sign stating it is the Ross home, and the doormat states it is the "Happy Days" farm.

The home is wooden on the inside, too, and Ross mentioned it was like being out in the country while having all the conveniences of the city close by. She enjoys spending her time there now.

While she loved her time as Mrs. Cunningham on "Happy Days," she now enjoys retirement in her home with her family. She is no longer interested in TV or film roles that might come along.

Ross said she doesn't mind if someone ever offers her another role because she did everything she wanted to do with her life. She then quipped:

Ross is proud of her age and does not feel as old as she is. She believes the secret to living a happy life is to have no idea how old you are and only act as old as you feel on the inside.

For Ross, she still feels like a "child inside" who is "about 11." She says feeling like a child is the life force that keeps her from feeling old. Yet she is not afraid of dying and says because she is such an optimist, she believes "there is going to be the most fantastic thing happen after you die."

While she is not looking forward to death, it is not something that strikes dread into her heart because she does not know what will happen after she dies. However, the 94-year-old is still going strong.
