Janita Mae Killam Is Hid from the Public by Parents Cobie Smulders & Taran Killam
Janita Mae Killam is the second and youngest daughter born to actors Cobie Smulders and Taran Killam. The couple, who married in 2012, have carefully guarded Janita against the public eye since she was born, and the same has gone for her older sister.
Janita Mae Killam was born to some of Hollywood's most prominent stars. Her dad is Taran Killam, a Culver City native whose entertainment career dates back to the mid-1990s. The comedian has appeared in over 80 productions, his longest-running being "Saturday Night Live" and "Single Parents."
Janita's father also dabbled in behind-the-scenes work, as he has writing credits in the TV series "All That" and "Nick Cannon Presents: Short Circuitz," and the films "Brother Nature" and "Killing Gunther." Her mother, Cobie Smulders, is Canadian and was born in Vancouver.

Although she has also dabbled in producing, Cobie, who recently celebrated her 41st birthday, is hailed as an actress. Some of her most well-known character portrayals were Jo in 2013's "Safe Haven," Turner in "Jack Reacher: Never Go Back," alongside Tom Cruise, and Agent Maria Hill in the "Avengers" film franchise.
Later this year, she will reprise her role in Marvel's latest miniseries, "Secret Invasion," opposite Samuel L. Jackson, Emilia Clarke, and Olivia Colman. While many anticipate the show's release and to see Agent Hill grace their screens again, the role Cobie and her husband have valued most is that of parenthood for Janita and her sister.

What We Know About Janita Mae Killam
Janita's parents marked their tenth wedding anniversary last year, and although they have expanded their family, the couple has rarely spoken of her. She was born in January 2015, following her sibling, Shaelyn Cado, who drew her first breath in July 2009.
Neither Janita nor Shaelyn has appeared on Cobie or Taran's Instagram timelines, as both spouses have mainly dedicated their socials to work-related content. However, the young sisters have been photographed on rare occasions when the media spotted them in public.
In 2013, paparazzi sighted Janita's then-three-year-old sister in her mother's arms as the duo strolled through the streets of Tribeca. It wasn't until April 2020 that Janita made her public debut when she and her family took a walk in their neighborhood — the family of four resides in Los Angeles.
The now-eight-year-old donned a long black-and-white patterned dress with sunglasses and a helmet while she rode her scooter. Her sister had also accessorized with shades that matched her helmet, sporting a white vest, blue jeans, and black sneakers as she glided on her bike.
For Taran Killam and Cobie Smulders, Their Daughters Always Come First
Janita's parents are among several celebrities who've been tight-lipped about their family life. The couple likely prefers privacy to protect their children from the scrutiny that often accompanies being under the limelight. However, in a rare instance, Janita's mother allowed a small glimpse during a 2019 interview with People.
In addition to demanding and time-consuming jobs, parenthood can be overwhelming. But Cobie and Taran had support, which extended to their daughters, as Cobie explained, "We have family that helps us out when we need it and just supports our girls emotionally as well."

Still, despite being able to juggle it all, Janita and Shaelyn stay above everything, as their mother added, "Always, in every decision I make, my daughters come first, whether that's a work decision or a life decision, and that's the same with my husband, too."
Cobie concluded that her daughters were her and Taran's "top priority." She had also observed how Shaelyn and Janita's arrival shaped her and Taran's perspective on their work, saying it was no longer about "feeding some sort of ambition" within themselves but more about doing what they truly loved.
