Although she got engaged to her first publicized partner in 2006, Ruth Negga doesn't have a husband, and her dating life has been a mystery for many years.

Negga is a 41-year-old Ethiopian-born Irish actress who has been active in the film and television industry for almost two decades. She has been involved in various movies, including "Ad Astra" starring Brad Pitt and Tommy Lee Jones. Negga had a recurring role in Marvel's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D," appearing in 18 episodes.

However, with all the fame she has amassed over the years, much of her personal life has remained a mystery. The actress prefers to keep her private life, especially her romances, under wraps, with only a few references to it in interviews and none on social media.

Ruth Negga Used to Be Engaged to Irish Actor Tadhg Murphy

Negga met Tadhg Murphy while both were enrolled at Trinity College Dublin studying drama. The college sweethearts then got engaged several years later in 2006. Unfortunately, that didn't lead to marriage as the couple broke up for reasons unknown to the public.

Despite the failure of their romantic relationship, there appear to be no hard feelings between them. The former partners have reportedly remained good friends; hence, it was not surprising that Murphy was very excited about Ruth's nomination for an Academy Award.

He was quoted saying, "Ruth is amazing, she is (expletive) phenomenal, and I was over the moon when I heard she had been nominated. She so deserves it. She is an incredible actress." Murphy might have a good eye for great actors or actresses when he sees them given that he is also a performer himself.

Born on May 30, 1979, the Dublin-born Irishman has featured in over 25 film and television productions. Arguably the most popular projects he has been on is "Vikings," in which he appeared as Arne in eight episodes from 2013 to 2014, and Guy Ritchie's "Wrath of Man" starring Jason Statham, Andy Garcia, and Scott Eastwood.

Ruth Negga Dated Dominic Cooper for Eight Years

Negga and Dominic Cooper met in 2009 when they shared the stage in an adaptation of Phèdre alongside Helen Mirren. After that, they got several more roles in the same projects and eventually began dating in 2010. Starting in 2016, the real-life couple was cast as an on-screen couple in the supernatural adventure series, "Preacher."

Speaking about their time together on the show, Negga said she enjoyed having her partner on set as it helped to have a friend around to have your back, as it could get lonely on 16-hour days of filming. However, while the show was still airing, reports of their breakup started to spread.

Although the media picked up on their separation in 2018, the actress claimed that they had called it quits much earlier than that, and like in her last relationship with Murphy, Negga and Cooper remained good friends. Beginning in 2018, Cooper has been in a relationship with "Eternals" actress Gemma Chan.

Ruth Negga Keeps Her Love Life Away from the Spotlight

With almost two decades of experience in the film and television industry, starting with "Capital Letters" in 2004, Negga has been a celebrity for quite a long time.

However, her time in the spotlight has shown that she prefers to keep her personal life out of the media. The actress's private life has remained in the shadows of her professional life throughout her career.

Even in her first public relationship with fellow actor Murphy and subsequent relationship with Cooper, details about those romances were not readily available. It was reported that even the producers of "Preacher" did not know about Negga and Cooper when they cast them on their show.

Since Negga's breakup with Cooper, her love life has become an even bigger mystery. The actress has not been rumored to be dating anyone. Even her social media is void of any hints of a romantic life.
