Who Is Gregory Mecher, Jen Psaki's Husband of 13 Years?
Television political analyst and former White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki has been happily married to the father of her children, Gregory Mecher, since 2010.
Jen Psaki is a familiar name and face to American voters and TV audiences, as a White House press secretary, a political analyst for MSNBC, and the host of her own talk show, "Inside with Jen Psaki."
But behind the astute, politically savvy commentator is a woman few know about, an adoring wife who has been happily married to Gregory Mecher since 2010.

Audiences were used to seeing the pretty redhead in the White House Press Room during the Obama and Biden administrations and on their TV screens. Some may not know that behind the dedicated professional is a loving husband, Gregory Mecher.
Mecher was born in September 1976 in Ohio, grew up in Philadelphia, and earned his degree in degree in communications and television production from the University of Northern Kentucky.
Psaki answered the phone, and the directions she gave Mecher got him and Emanuel's entourage hopelessly lost.
It was Mecher's interest in politics, which he developed in college -- along with a life-long passion for the Cincinnati Bengals --that brought them together.

Jennifer Rene Psaki and Gregory Matthew Mecher Have Been Married since 2010
Psaki and Gregory Matthew Mecher have been married since May 2010, and the couple tied the knot in a charming country church in Maryland, surrounded by family and close friends.
Psaki wore a lovely, elegantly simple white wedding gown, a short veil, and flowers in her hair and carried a sweet country-style bouquet of white roses and daffodils.

Jen Says Her Husband Is Comfortable in His Own Skin
It's not easy to be married to a high-profile personality, as the husbands and wives of many celebrities can attest. Still, Mecher is very comfortable in his role as Psaki's husband. She revealed:
“He is so comfortable in his own skin with who he is. He could be in a room with 5-year-old kids, he could be in a room with billionaires, he could be in a room on a factory floor(...) have a conversation everywhere."

Gregory Was Nervous about Asking Jen for a Date
The first meeting between Mecher and Psaki was over the phone in 2006. Mecher called the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee to ask for direction to an event to which he was driving the then-chairman Rahm Emanuel.
Psaki answered the phone, and the directions she gave Mecher got him and Emanuel's entourage hopelessly lost. When he finally met her, his anger over the bad directions dissipated. Mecher was smitten and decided to ask her out. He revealed:
"I actually got really nervous. I was 30 years old. I've asked a few girls out before. I've never been nervous about it in my life."
Psaki accepted, and the date was a success. At first, the couple tried to hide their romance from their colleagues and later continued their relationship long distance, and four years later, they married.
Gregory Is a Very Hands-on Father with Their Kids
Mecher has stepped back from his hectic career and works from home as an adviser to be a full-time, hands-on dad to their two children, a boy and a girl, who their parents keep out of the limelight as much as possible.
Psaki has shared a sweet glimpse of some of Mecher's struggles as a full-time dad on her Twitter account. She tweeted:
"There are few parenting things more adorable than watching suburban Dads try to figure out what outfit and dance shoes their toddler is supposed to be wearing when they check into dance class."
Mecher's flexibility, confidence, and dedication -- and willingness to put his political career on hold and parent their children full time -- have allowed Psaki to focus on her career, first in the White House and now as a talk show host.
Jen Pseki is now joining the ranks of women like Christiane Amanpour, Lisa Ling, and Megyn Kelly with her own show and interviewing some of the country's most prominent figures.
