Cole Hauser Discovered Hollywood Royalty Dad at 10 - Now His Son Is Thankful for Him at Graduation
- Cole Hauser, also known as Rip Wheeler from "Yellowstone," recently celebrated his eldest son's college graduation.
- Hauser's father left when he was two, and he did not meet him until a decade later.
- Sadly he discovered his father struggled with alcohol and drug abuse and had to live alone in a boat.
Cole Hauser is a California-born actor known for his famous role as Rip Wheeler in the show "Yellowstone." He comes from a family with a long history in Hollywood.
His mother, Cass Warner, is a third-generation filmmaker. Her grandfather, Harry M. Warners, was the President and one of the founders of the Warner Bros Studio.
Warner and Wings Hauser divorced when Cole was only two years old, but the Hauser men only reconnected years later. Warner had kept Cole's father's identity a secret until the actor revealed that he noticed his dad on television while watching a movie.
He waited till the end to see the credits, and when he saw the name "Wings Hauser," he immediately went to the room and asked his mother who he was. Cole's questions took Warner aback, but she knew it was time he was told the truth.
His mother sat him down, and just like that, at ten years old, Cole found out his father was the leading action man in Hollywood with several films under his belt.
After almost a decade of not being in contact with his father, Warner suggested Cole move in with Wing. He was only 12 years old but quickly discovered his father's alcohol and drug addiction, meaning he could not care for him.
Therefore, Cole had to find a place to stay and found a nearby boat. He was now a teenager, who had just left home to live with his father and ended up alone, but he did not stop going for auditions, despite the many rejections.
Cole loved the adventure of exploring the city and his life on the boat. At 47 years old, looking back, he said, "It was an awesome time because it meant freedom."
It turned out that Hauser's paternal side also had a history of acting. Wright Hauser, Cole's grandfather, was a renowned actor and producer with many accolades, including an Academy Award.

What Did Cole Hauser Say About His Kids?
In addition to their eldest son, Cole also has a son Colt who arrived in 2008. Then in 2013, the couple welcomed their daughter Steely Rose.
Steely Rose seems to be the family star because Daniel and Cole's social media pages are filled with her posing for the camera.
But as a child of two actors, there's no doubt she was born an entertainer. Cole even candidly shared on his Instagram that he missed his baby girl while filming "Yellowstone."
Since Cole is booked and busy, he spoke about how he balanced fatherhood and work. The actor said he tried his best to allocate time to each of his children, but he also has to make some for his wife while also ensuring they spend time as a family.
He admitted that it was not easy to have all together, but "You have to figure that balance out. But as a father and a husband, you have to make the time and work just as hard at it," Cole reiterated.
For Father's Day, Cole shared a photo of his three children and wrote, "I’m blessed with 3 amazing, different, and healthy children." Then wished all the other dads a happy Father's Day.
Cole did not have the smoothest relationship with his father, but with his freedom, he built a success out of himself. Now he hopes to give his children the same opportunity, especially as the eldest of his sons steps into the real world.
