Glum Meghan Markle Spotted for the First Time since Losing $20M Job & ‘Grifters’ Accusation
- Meghan Markle was spotted looking downcast in her first public sighting since Spotify ended the Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry's $20 million podcast deal.
- Bill Simmons, the head of Spotify's Podcast Innovation and Monetization, slammed Harry and Meghan after their deal with Spotify ended and called them "Grifters."
- Meghan reportedly could be on the brink of signing a deal with Dior to become the face of the French multinational luxury fashion house.
Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made a $20 million deal with Spotify that came to an end recently. The deal saw the couple produce and release a 13-episode podcast, Archetypes, which rose to position one on Spotify's ranking when it debuted.
Spotify and Markle and Harry's production company Archewell Audio released a statement saying they have mutually decided to part ways and are proud of the series they made together.
The Duchess of Sussex was recently spotted looking downcast in her first public appearance since Spotify and the pair's company decided to part ways.
Meghan was sighted near her Montecito home, looking pensive. She was outdoors makeup free, and her hair was styled in a fresh blowout.
She was dressed in black skinny jeans, black ballet flats, and a striped jumper. She completed her casual look with a $5400 Fendi Peekaboo ISeeU bag.
The former actress seemed to be in a heated conversation on her phone via her earbuds. She removed the earbuds and continued scrolling her phone as she walked along.
Meghan's first public sighting since the Spotify deal ended comes amidst rumors that she could soon start to seriously think about bringing back her wellness and lifestyle blog "The Tig."
Meghan's and Harry's finances are expected to take a blow after they lost the Spotify contract. The mom of two was spotted at their sprawling Tuscan Style estate that she and the Duke of Sussex bought for $14.7 million in June 2020.
The house is believed to have a significant mortgage and other costs, such as maintenance fees, staffing fees, and annual property taxes, at $144,427.
The talent company that signed Meghan, William Morris Endeavor (WME), said the "Suits" alumni would keep developing content for her Archetypes audience but with another platform.
The socialite noted that if Meghan pulled the Dior deal off, then no one would remember that her podcast got canceled after one season.
Meghan and Harry Were Called "Grifters"
Bill Simmons, Head of Podcast Innovation and Monetization at Spotify, criticized Meghan and Harry and called them "the [expletive] grifters." Grifters is a word used to describe people who gain dishonestly via tricking and swindling others.
According to Bill, Spotify should have launched a podcast with the couple called "The [expletive] grifters" instead of Archetypes. He added:
"I've got to get drunk one night and tell the story of the Zoom I had with Harry to try and help him with a podcast idea. It's one of my best stories."

Bill, who has long been critical of the pair, had previously said in January 2020 that he was embarrassed to be affiliated with the same company as Prince Harry.
Bill is also a sportswriter who founded the sports and pop culture website and the podcast network The Ringer, which he sold to Spotify for $200 million in 2020.
The sportswriter complained about working with Harry in the same company and asked people to "shoot this guy to the sun."
Bill said he was tired of Harry and wondered what he brought to the table at Spotify, "He just whines about [expletive] and keeps giving interviews. Who gives a [expletive]? Who cares about your life?"

The top executive at Spotify said Harry wasn't even the favorite son, no longer lives in the UK, and people do not want to hear every minute detail about his life:
"You just sell documentaries and podcasts, and nobody cares what you have to say about anything unless you talk about the royal family and you just complain about them."
Since leaving the Royal Family, Harry and Meghan have pursued different ventures of making money, including the Duke of Sussex's exploding memoir "Spare." The memoir was produced as part of the couple's $20 million deal with Penguin Books.

Harry and Meghan also worked together on the docu-series "Harry And Meghan" produced by Netflix. The giant streaming company reportedly paid the pair $100 million for the six-episode series.
According to a source close to the pair, the two will no longer make tell-all documentaries, interviews, and memoirs about the Royal Family because they have nothing left to tell the public.
However, Meghan seems to be venturing into another business deal as rumors claim she is about to sign a collaboration with a French multinational luxury fashion house.

Meghan is Rumored to Become the Face of Dior
A reinvention of Meghan is underway, with Ari Emanuel, the chief of the talent agency WME, leading the process.
Rumors in Los Angeles claim that part of the reinvention has brought Meghan close to signing a major deal with French couture house Dior. The deal, if made, will make Meghan the face of Dior alongside billionaire Rihanna and global star Jennifer Lawrence.
A famous Beverly Hill socialite claimed that the Duchess of Sussex was a hot topic in Los Angeles, "Meghan is all anyone is talking about."

The socialite noted that if Meghan pulled the Dior deal off, then no one would remember that her podcast got canceled after one season.
The 41-year-old has recently been involved in a series of meetings since signing with Ari as they forge a way forward.
Reports also claimed that Meghan and Harry may undergo another financial blow as Netflix is reviewing its $100 million deal with the couple.

A source at WME claimed that Meghan and Harry were up to par with all the ongoing changes. The couple reportedly knew the Spotify deal was ending before the announcement went public. The insider revealed:
"Ari is the best in the business when it comes to corporate deals and making money. He's excited to be representing Meghan and has thrown all his energy into it. The offers have been pouring in, including from other podcast platforms."
An insider who used to work for Oprah Winfrey said if Meghan bags the Dior deal, she could end up being worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

The former actress could easily match or surpass Johnny Depp's recent $20 million three-year deal to remain Dior's face of its men's fragrance Sauvage.
The Duke of Sussex and his wife need a good income to maintain their lifestyle. The rumored Dior deal cannot come soon enough for Meghan and Harry, who both vowed to remain financially independent after exiting the Royal Family.
