Tracy Nelson is an actress that comes from a long line of entertainers. She is the eldest of four of singer and songwriter Ricky Nelson and his actress wife, Kristin Harmon.
It was not only Tracy's parents who were in the industry, but her paternal grandparents were the famously known singing and acting duo Ozzie and Harriet Nelson.

But it does not end there; her maternal grandparents were also in the industry. Her grandfather, Tom Harmon, was a football player and a sportscaster, and her grandmother Elyse Knox was an actress.
Tracy and her siblings also continued the family tradition. Her younger brothers, Matthew and Gunnar, became musicians and formed a band named Nelson. The other brother Sam also became a music executive.

As for the eldest sister Tracy, she started performing before she turned five. One of her early childhood roles was opposite Lucille Ball in the Henry Fonda film "Yours, Mine, and Ours."

Tracy's parents married the year she was born in 1963, but their marriage ended in 1983. She reportedly did not have the best relationship with her mother and mostly lived with her father.
Why Did Tracy Nelson Make People Uncomfortable with Her Look?
Tracy's life changed when she was 21 and lost her father unexpectedly to a plane crash. Ricky and six others on the plane lost their lives.
The grieving process was not easy for Tracy. She was filled with anger because of the allegations of her father's death. It was rumored that Ricky had been responsible for the plane explosion by freebasing cocaine.

Although the rumor was discredited when the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that the plane crash came from the plane's faulty healing system, it continued to form a life of its own, with Tracy even blaming her father's death for her illness.
After Ricky died, Tracy and her family got into a feud over the custody of their youngest brother Sam. It was believed that their mother was not emotionally stable to care for their then-13-year-old brother.
Kristin's brother and famous actor, Mark Harmon, got involved and petitioned for custody, but then the Nelson band members, Matthew and Gunnar, stood by their mother's side.

Mark eventually stepped back from the custody battle, leading to Kristin winning the case. The legal debacle had caused some tension between Tracy and her uncle, but the two mended their relationship to be as special as it was when the "Yours, Mine and Ours" actress was a child.
However, after the emotional rollercoaster of losing her father, and the family feud, Tracy started to feel ill. She had already suspected something was wrong from her wedding day with William R. Moses in 1987.
The actress was working on the show "Father Dowling Mysteries" and started to feel extremely tired, her neck was swollen, and she had eyebags that could not be covered with makeup. She also had a strange dream of her father telling her it was not her time to die and urging her to see a doctor.

Unfortunately, Tracy's' instincts were right. She discovered that she had a kind of cancer attacking her lymph nodes and spleen. She found out the tumor was on her chest and as big as a grapefruit.
The actress remembered feeling devastated. After the heartbreaking call with her doctor, she sat on the floor and cried with her husband comforting her. The news was scary to the couple because Tracy had seen her grandfather lose his battle with liver cancer, and Moses' father also had incurable throat cancer.
Nonetheless, the actress went in for surgery. She had her family there to support her, and her grandfather Tom took out a picture of the Virgin Mary to protect her during her procedure.

The surgery was a grueling seven hours. Tracy had her spleen, a portion of her liver, and samples of her lymph nodes removed and has a 15-inch scar to show for it. "I was like a human biology project," she added.
Despite the fact that the cancer was discovered early, the treatment still took a toll on Tracy's body. She endured four months of chemotherapy and 25 rounds of radiation, which brought her weight down to 87 lbs, her hair was completely gone, and her skin had a green tint.
In the process, Tracy admitted that she thought of taking her life, but one day, when she was alone at home, she shouted, "I'm too tired, I can't do this anymore," and experienced a burst of energy out of nowhere.

That moment became a turning point for the actress; she realized her willingness to fight this illness would come from her loving herself. So she decided to ditch the wigs and makeup and embraced how she looked.
People were mean to her in public, but her husband loved her just the way she was, "He would get into bed with me at night and just hold me," Tracy remembered.
Tracy recalled a time she was in a restaurant, and someone told her she ruined their appetite. The actress responded, "Excuse me, but I'm fighting a war here, and I'm winning it!'”

Tracy yearned for a family with Moses, though some doctors told her to be grateful she was alive and not focus on having children.
In 1987 her cancer went into remission, and the couple tried for two and half years until they finally got a positive pregnancy test. As much as the couple was excited, they worried if the radiation would affect their unborn child.

The actress gave birth to a healthy daughter, Remington Elizabeth. The pregnancy might have been scary, but Moses said it was a walk in the park compared to battling cancer.
How Does Tracy Nelson Look Now and What Life Does She Have?
Tracy and Moses divorced in 1997 and shared custody of their daughter Remington. In 2001 the actress welcomed a second child, Elijah Nelson Clark, with her boyfriend, Chris Clark.
The mother of two is a warrior; she survived cancer three times and shared her story with the world. The last cancer she fought was breast cancer, and now she's embracing her gray hair at 59 years old.

Remington got married, and Tracy posted the monumental moment on Facebook. The actress revealed that there was a huge storm as the couple was meant to walk down the aisle, and everything was moved inside at the last minute. But Tracy thought that experience was the ultimate lesson in handling a marriage.
Tracy experienced a lot of turmoil in her life, but she has remained positive through it all. The actress believed it all happened for a reason and that she was given a chance to be a stronger and better person.
