Beth Gardner: Nick Cannon's Mother Went to School While His Grandmother Raised Him

Nick Cannon was born to Beth Garder when she was a teenager; at the time, she was in high school. Consequently, the TV host grew up with his grandmother.

Nick Cannon, the multifaceted entertainer known for his roles as a talk show host, rapper, actor, and comedian, has openly shared insights into his upbringing. Nick's parents, James Cannon and Beth Garder welcomed him when they were both in high school.

Since Beth was still in school, Nick Cannon's grandmother had to raise him. In an interview, the California native disclosed his grandmother raised him since his mother was attending school and juggling multiple jobs. His father had to relocate from California after getting into trouble.

Nick Cannon's Mother Supports Him

Even though Nick didn't grow up with his mother, they have a great relationship. He once dedicated his song "Can I Live" to his mother. The song is the true story of Nick Cannon's mother's decision not to abort him.

The singer's music video includes his mother as a featured guest. Towards the conclusion of the video, Beth Gardner and Nick embrace each other while he delivers a heartfelt message. In his rap verse, he expresses:

"I am just telling y'all my story. I love life. I love my mother for giving me life. We all need to appreciate life. A strong woman that had to make a sacrifice. Thanks for listening. Mama, thanks for listening."

While Nick loves his big family, he once discussed the difficulties he faces being a father to multiple children.

Despite the absence of Nick Cannon's parents for a significant part of his childhood, the rapper and TV host has cultivated a strong connection with his mother. They have formed a close bond over the years, frequently attending public events together and making stylish appearances on the red carpet.

Beth Garder has an established career in different fields. According to reports, Nick Cannon's mother is an accomplished singer, actress, and accountant.

Nick Cannon's Mother Has Many Grand Kids

Cannon takes great pride in being a father to 12 children. The TV host and his ex-wife, Grammy-Award winner Mariah Carey, share twins, Moroccan and Monroe. Nick has sons, Golden Sagon and Rise Messiah Cannon, and a daughter named Powerful Queen with former beauty queen Brittany Bell.

Cannon also shares parenthood with international DJ Abby De La Rosa, with whom he has twins Zion Mixolydian and Zillion Heir and a daughter named Beautiful Zeppelin. His son Legendary Love is from his relationship with Bre Tiesi, and his daughter Onyx Ice Cole is from his relationship with LaNisha Cole.

Additionally, Cannon has two kids with Alyssa Scott. Their son Zen died as an infant at five months in December 2021 after being diagnosed with brain cancer. The pair also share daughter Halo Marie Cannon, born on December 14, 2022.

While Nick loves his big family, he once discussed the difficulties he faces being a father to multiple children. The former "America's Got Talent" host admitted his greatest guilt is not being able to spend enough time with his children.
