A Glimpse into the Lives of Geraldo Rivera's Children
Geraldo Rivera has five children. He has two sons named Gabriel Miguel and Cruz and three daughters named Isabella Holmes, Simone, and Solita Liliana.
The renowned journalist has been married five times. However, with his third wife, Sherryl Raymond, he welcomed his first son, Gabriel, in July 1979 in Manhattan, New York.
Initially drawn to a career involving computers, Gabriel found his calling as a union engineer, specializing in installing elevators in New York's high-rise buildings. He has a family and is the proud father of one child, Desmond.
Gabriel shares Desmond with his wife, Deb. They used to reside in Amsterdam, where his famous father occasionally visited them. Currently, the family lives in Holland.
Geraldo's second son, Cruz, was born in 1987 to a mother whose identity remains undisclosed. Cruz's birth was controversial, as the journalist initially denied his paternity. However, a DNA test later confirmed his role as Cruz's father.
Cruz studied Marine Engineering at Texas A&M University of Galveston and graduated in 2014. He is now a parent to three children, although only his son Jace is known publicly.
Geraldo's third and fourth children are his daughters, Isabella, born in 1992, and Simone, followed in 1994. They share the same mother, who happened to be his fourth wife, Cynthia Cruickshank.
Isabella, a graduate of New York University, initially worked as a CNN producer before joining her father as a colleague at Fox. On her 24th birthday, he praised her as a "fabulous, beautiful, smart" woman.
After graduating from Yale University in May 2022, Simone is now a judicial law clerk in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York. Her academic accomplishments have consistently marked her as an achiever. Geraldo once called her "brilliant."
Simone was one of the survivors of the tragic attack in Paris in 2015 while she was a student there.
Before attending law school, Simone earned a double degree in political science and legal studies from Northwestern University in 2017. One of her notable undertakings was serving as a research assistant for the Chicago Democracy Project.
Geraldo's youngest daughter, Solita, was born in 2005 and is the child of the renowned TV personality and his current wife, Erica Michelle Levy, the daughter of former NBC Universal TV producer Howard Levy.
Solita is now a teenager, active in various sports and volunteering activities. She attended grade school in Manhattan and currently studies at Hawken School in Shaker Heights, Ohio, where her parents reside.
Geraldo Rivera's Children Have Captured Public Attention in Various Ways
Much like their father's controversial persona in the media industry, Geraldo Rivera's children have also managed to gain public attention in different ways.
He revealed in 2012 that his son Gabriel felt ashamed of him for his controversial views surrounding Trayvon Martin's wardrobe choice following the latter's death.
Gabriel reportedly wrote an e-mail to his father, remarking that he had gone "viral for the wrong reasons." Despite the misunderstanding, Geraldo claimed that he was concerned and that his mission was to "save kids' lives."
On the other hand, Simone was one of the survivors of the tragic attack in Paris in 2015 while she was a student there. Her father was emotional on live TV when she expressed her desire to go home after experiencing the traumatic event.
In 2018, Cruz was reportedly arrested for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend, Meghan Burke, in his apartment. Despite his wrongful actions, Cruz's father hired a lawyer to assist him during the court hearing.
Burke chose not to press charges against Cruz, and in 2019, the case was closed after Cruz completed a domestic violence program, which constituted his light sentence at the time.
In 2022, Sol gained attention when she was featured in Geraldo's photo on Twitter, along with a seemingly woeful tweet. The tweet stated they were stuck at the Tampa airport "for hours." While Geraldo was aware of the weather crisis, he also pointed out the "lack of information."
Despite his children gaining attention in public, Geraldo has shown immense dedication to them and has proven to be a protective father. He is just one of many journalists who prioritize their loved ones, no matter where their work takes them.
Similarly, Gillian Turner, Elwyn Lopez, Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon, Robin Roberts, and Lester Holt also navigate the highs and lows of their lives. They all understand the challenges and joys of their profession and manage their personal lives with resilience.
