Kodak Black's ethnicity is Haitian. The rapper once revealed that his heritage influenced his music career. While less is known about his father, the rapper has been spotted several times with his mother.

Bill Kahan Kapri, professionally known as Kodak Black, was born in the U.S. to a Haitian Migrant mother. He discovered his passion for music at a young age and began rapping in elementary school.

While the Florida native is proud of his Haitian roots, he revealed in an interview that he lacks a closer bond with his father because he has not been present in his life. Moreover, he mentioned that his father's family doesn't even acknowledge him.

Although Kodak Black's mom is not his biggest supporter, the rapper openly expressed his affection for her, revealing she is the person he loves the most and treats her as if he were her husband.

In October 2021, Black shared a video on his Instagram addressing his relationship with his mother after a viral video of him dancing with his mom, touching her in places fans deemed inappropriate, and trying to kiss her made rounds online.

According to the "Roll in Peace" rapper, he addressed the situation because some people questioned his actions. He openly conveyed his deep affection for his mother, highlighting their hardships together.

The rapper disclosed that his father left their lives while he was young, leaving them financially vulnerable, so his mom had to take responsibility. The 26-year-old rapper added that his mother is a queen, and he treats her like his lady. He said:

"I grab her, like I make her feel real beautiful. I remind my mama, ‘You beautiful, [...] I’m in love with you."

Black's mom has sometimes supported her son's music career. In a since-deleted Instagram post, the rapper shared a video of his mom getting a Sniper Gang tattoo on her upper arm. Sniper Gang is his record label, which includes talented artists like rapper John Wicks, C Clip Beatz, Petho Burr, and Mr. Flipper, all hailing from Florida.

In 2020, Marcelene Octave, Kodak Black's mother, enlisted the services of a prominent attorney to support her son's legal battle. The move came after the rapper made allegations of experiencing abuse while incarcerated.

Having served close to four years in prison after pleading guilty to weapon-related charges, the rapper claimed that correctional officers and fellow inmates were responsible for the mistreatment.

In a video shared on Youtube, Black's mother passionately appealed for her son's safety, shedding tears as she expressed her concerns:

"I want to make sure my son is okay. I want to make sure they don't kill my son [...] because my son, after God, my son is a life to me."

Recently, Black found himself in custody again at a Florida jail but was released on a two hundred and fifty thousand dollars bond. The rapper is no stranger to controversies, joining the ranks of fellow artists like Lil Wayne, Chris Brown, and several others.
