Markie Post's Husband and Kids: All We Know about the Legendary Actress's Family
In mid-2021, Markie Post's family suffered a devastating loss when the longtime actress died of cancer after battling the disease for nearly four years. She left an indelible mark in their lives as they remembered her unabated kindness and strength.
The news of Markie Post's death broke in early August 2021. Two weeks after the announcement, her eldest daughter, Katie Armstrong Ross, shared a lengthy reflection about her passing, saying she felt "deeply heartbroken," yet "grateful beyond measure."
Katie remembered how present her mother remained in the "unpromised time" she had left. She recalled Markie's ongoing offers of kindness and that despite protecting her privacy, the late star "lived and loved openly."
Katie partially attributed her gratitude to discovering the magnitude of Markie's impact outside her family, as sweet stories poured in from fans worldwide following her mom's passing. She felt proud to have been Markie's daughter.
She admitted that her online presence had decreased due to how much of her life had unfolded offline. The tribute she shared in honor of Markie was the last post on her Instagram page at the time of writing.
Who Was Markie Post's First Husband?
Markie married twice in her lifetime. Her first husband was a college sweetheart and fellow actor Stephen Knox. It's unknown how long they dated, but their marriage lasted nine months. Speaking about their relationship many years later, Markie recalled:
"I fell for him because I had never met a man with real angst. He was charismatic and cynical. I married him out of passion; I had never had a sexual experience before. I was Snow White, and he was James Dean."

Markie Posts's Last Husband Is a Writer and Producer
Markie's last husband and longtime partner was Michael A. Ross. Michael joined the entertainment industry as an actor in the mid-1970s. He continued landing roles throughout the rest of the decade and the following one before transitioning to working behind the scenes.
He made his writing debut in 1991 on the comedy show "Designing Women," which starred Delta Burke, Dixie Carter, and Annie Potts. He also wrote for the comic teleplay "Evening Shade," led by Burt Reynolds and Marilu Henner.
Michael's work as a producer also began on "Evening Shade." Still, he is most renowned for producing the comedy shows "Better Off Ted," starring Jay Harrington and Portia de Rossi, and "Rules of Engagement," among many others.

He met Markie in an acting class in 1980, but their first impressions of each other are a bit humorous. Michael thought Markie was a "huge phony" as he watched her modestly accept compliments after she had done a performance reading.
In another encounter, Markie picked Michael as a scene partner, but only to avoid another guy who was trying his luck. It took only a year for them to fall in love and begin what would become a decades-long marriage. The lovebirds married in February 1992.

Markie and Michael welcomed their first daughter, Katie, on June 16, 1987. They had their youngest, Daisy Ross, now Daisy Schoenborn, on March 30, 1990. Katie followed in her mom's footsteps and became an actress.
The two-time graduate of Kenyon College and British American Drama Academy is based in New York, and although she has onscreen credits, her primary focus is theater work. Little is known about Daisy's career, but the 33-year-old is a mom of one with her husband, Bryce Schoenborn.
