Does Marco Pigossi Have a Wife? The Actor Is Gay and Dating Filmmaker Marco Calvani
Marco Pigossi, a talented actor known for his captivating performances, has often piqued curiosity about his personal life, and some fans wonder if he has a wife. However, the actor openly embraces his sexual orientation and is currently in a relationship with Italian director and writer Marco Calvani.
Brazilian actor and producer Marco Pigossi had a professional fear of coming out as gay. He made his name as a heartthrob in a dozen soap operas, including "Tangled Hearts," "Watercolors of Love," "Looks and Essence," and more.
For two decades, he passed as a straight man in an industry only too willing to accept this at face value. He now openly shares his life with his partner on social media.
Marco Pigossi Needed to 'Catch Up' in the Gay Community
"I prayed, I asked God to fix me," Pigossi revealed in an interview in July 2023, a year after coming out as gay. The actor, who never had a reference to look up to in his personal and artistic life, continued:
"Homophobia is so deep-rooted that, however much we assume, it will still deal with internal prejudice. I wore the heterosexual mask, I've always been noticed for my beauty. I played this straight character to hide myself, which made my life more comfortable."
The actor knows how his white, middle-class "son of doctors" privilege also contributed to his former comfortable existence as a straight-passing gay man.
Pigossi felt a moral and social responsibility to "catch up" concerning LGBTQ+ causes and work for the community. He is very grateful to the generation of queer people who came before him and suffered things he could not begin to imagine.
He came out in an Instagram Story on November 24, 2021. His partner Marco Calvani posted the same photo on his main grid of them walking hand-in-hand on the beach, captioned, "Thankful for this… ♥ #thanksgiving2021."
Other celebrities who came out later in their careers include Niecy Nash, Ricky Martin, Barry Manilow, Jodie Foster, Ellen DeGeneres, Holland Taylor, Lance Bass, and Ian McKellen.

Marco Pigossi Claimed a Statement Falsely Attributed to Him
Pigossi took to social media to address speculation about his sexuality for the first time in 2016. A Brazilian radio station quoted him from an interview he never gave.
He was awarded the 2015 Writer Fellowship.
The actor wrote that he had no qualms about making some of the invented words his own, "pleasure has no gender." While the soap star did not explicitly come out on this occasion, he made it clear that he was not offended by the content of the fake report.
Who Is Marco Pigossi's Partner Marco Calvani?
The two Marcos met during the making of Calvani's first feature film he wrote and directed, "Best Place," in December 2020, co-starring Marisa Tomei and Bill Irwin.
Born in Italy in 1980, Calvani's works as a playwright have been shown worldwide to great acclaim, beginning with his debut, "Quasi," in 2002.
He was awarded the 2015 Writer Fellowship at the Edward F. Albee Foundation and received the 2011 S.I.A.E. Prize for Best Playwright and the 2015 Calcante Prize, amongst other accolades.
Calvani's art went from the stage to the screen with the adaptation of his play "The View from Up Here" in a short film starring Melissa Leo and Leila Bekhti, which he also directed.
