In June 2020, Rod Wave revealed that he was spending his new-found free time during the pandemic with his "girl." The rapper shared, "I've just been resting, enjoying life. Living a regular life, getting up every day. Spending time with my girl (and) my family."

A year later, during an interview, Rod Wave was asked about love and revealed not only was he in love at the time, but that he falls in love very easily. The rapper shared:

"I fall in love like this [snaps fingers]. I'm in love right now."

Rod Wave's Fans Were Surprised to Learn He Had a Girlfriend

After revealing that he was in love, Rod Wave's fans took to social media to express their surprise. "Rod Wave expecting twins ??? Hold on hold on, bra had a girlfriend this whole time?" one user tweeted.

Another person shared, "So I learned that Rod Wave's girlfriend got braces," and a third typed in part, "Rod Wave "paid" $10k to get his girlfriend's hair done by Tae and the investor rats talking about "he could've invested that."

"Rod Wave got a girlfriend...If she breaks his heart we getting the album of the year," another fan shared, and a fifth tweeted, "Rod Wave Don't Be Hurt He Just In Love This Man Gotta A Whole Girlfriend And Two Daughters Otw y'all get off my boy fr (sic)."

Rod Wave Was Charged for Assaulting One of His Ex-girlfriends

According to the arrest warrant affidavit for Rod Wave, the rapper assaulted his girlfriend on April 24, 2022, while their twin children were in the home. Rod Wave's unidentified ex-girlfriend said he accused her of seeing other men and proceeded to get aggressive with her.

A few months after Rod Wave was cleared of all charges, he took to Instagram to announce that he was dropping a new album and released "Beautiful Mind."

By the time Rod Wave's ex-girlfriend called the police, the rapper had left. However, he was arrested and charged a week later during a traffic stop in St. Petersburg and pleaded not guilty. According to Rod Wave's former girlfriend, the couple had been together for four years, and their two children were in their bedroom when the incident occurred.

Rod Wave Released an Album Shortly after the Charges against Him Were Dropped

According to reports, in May 2022, prosecutors in Osceola County determined that the case between Rod Wave and his ex-girlfriend was unsuitable for prosecution, and the case was dropped.

A few months after Rod Wave was cleared of all charges, he took to Instagram to announce that he was dropping a new album and released "Beautiful Mind." The album did very well and topped the Billboard 200 chart, landing the rapper his second No. 1 album. And in 2023, Rod Wave released the track "Fight the Feeling," which was also a chart-topper.
