They want their children to grow up to be respectful women who are confident to do what they want and be strong enough to stand up for themselves when she and Damon are gone.
As an actor, Damon has not always had the best-performing movies. He opened up about when he uprooted his family for a film he quickly realized would not do well.

But throughout these ups and downs, the "Air" star is grateful to have his wife by his side. He remembered being depressed and having his wife pull him back to life when she reminded him to focus on the present.
Barroso and Damon’s long-lasting relationship started with a strong connection they felt from the first day. The actor won his wife over when he tried to invite her out with his friends, and she told him she had a four-year-old daughter to take care of.
But her having a child did not scare him away; in fact, he expressed how much he loved that Barroso was a mother. The impression the "Oppenheimer" star made was not because of his fame but who he was, “It was just Matt; to me, he's just Matt." said Barroso.

When asked what the secret behind her 18 years of marriage was, Barroso said she did not know. "I just know I think we both feel, really, really lucky to have met each other, so we don't take that for granted," expressed the mother of four.
