Academy Award-winner Curtis had posted how "thrilled" she was about Lohan's pregnancy in April 2023, musing, "What a mama she will be."

Lindsay, who is experiencing a career revival, revealed that she had recently been in contact with Curtis for mothering advice. The mother of two advised:

"You just bring the baby with you, and everything will be fine."

Curtis was in the middle of a book tour when she was offered the part as a replacement. "That was Thursday," she said in a retrospective of the film. "I read the script on Friday, flew home on Saturday, had my hair dyed red Sunday, and was working Monday."

It helped that she had a 15-year-old and a toddler at home, as she had very little time to prepare. She does not believe the movie would have been as good if she had more prep time.

While promoting "Halloween Ends," Jamie Lee Curtis had gaged interest in a sequel of "Freaky Friday", and she called up the studio. This year it was announced that Disney is developing another installment with both stars keen to reprise their roles.

Lindsay Lohan said in May 2023 that they "would only make something that people would absolutely adore." There is no word if Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, and Ryan Malgarini will also return.
