Rick Springfield’s Wife: The Star’s Marriage to Barbara Porter Is Still Going Strong
Rick Springfield and his wife, Barbara Porter, have celebrated over three decades of marriage, but it has not always been smooth sailing. The singer's wife stood by his side when he battled depression, and Rick Springfield revealed he wasn't always "the good guy in the relationship."
Barbara Porter was still a teenager when she laid eyes on her future husband for the first time, and the couple has since welcomed two kids. However, while Rick Springfield revealed that the couple can't keep their hands off each other now, it wasn't always that way.
The singer candidly revealed that being in the public eye took a toll on his mental health, and in addition to slipping into a depression, the singer tried to take his own life. Fortunately, he had his wife to help him through the dark times.

Barbara Porter and Her Famous Husband Met When She Was 15
In 2021, Springfield appeared on Bethenny Frankel's podcast "Just B With Bethenny Frankel" and revealed that he and Porter met at Sound City Studios in California — where he was recording music — when she was 15 and working at the front desk.
However, due to Porter's age, Springfield dismissed the possibility of them dating until their paths crossed again when she was 18. The singer was dating someone else then, but his and Porter's romance blossomed once that ended. Springfield said:
"She's amazing. She's one of those people that everybody loves, and she's absolutely truthful. She's an absolute people person, and that's her passion. She's an incredible spirit."

Springfield and Porter are proud parents to two sons, and in 2013, their son, Liam Springthorpe, shared the small screen with his famous dad on "General Hospital."
However, the "Jessie Girl" singer revealed on the podcast that he wasn't always the "good guy in the relationship," and they could weather multiple storms because they maintained a close relationship and worked at their marriage. "The most important thing is you both want it," Springfield said.

Rick Springfield's Wife Helped Him Battle Depression
Over the years, Springfield has been very candid about his bouts with depression and admitted to attempting suicide as a teenager. And while making music was a way for the singer to release some of his "darkness," Porter also played a significant role in her husband's journey.
"She still inspires me. We've been married a long time, and we've been through a lot of ups and downs." Springfield said. The couple later welcomed children, and Springfield revealed that his kids also had a healing effect on his struggles with depression. The musician shared:
"It's like your heart beating. It's something that's there. I'm always aware of my family, absolutely, and the love that we have. Being grateful is very important to trying to combat depression."
Rick Springfield Shared the Small Screen with His Son
Springfield and Porter are proud parents to two sons, and in 2013, their son, Liam Springthorpe, shared the small screen with his famous dad on "General Hospital." Springthorpe kickstarted his acting career in the late 2000s, and in addition to sharing the screen with his dad, he acted alongside Brandon Hammond in "Amaru."
Springfield reprised his role as Dr. Noah Drake in honor of the 50th anniversary of "General Hospital" following his last appearance on the show in 2012. The singer rejoined Maurice Benard, Genie Francis, and Laura Wright, while Springthorpe made his show debut.
