Kizzy Edgell's Sexuality: They Are Openly Queer & Trans Masculine
Being on a ground-breaking LGBTQIA+ series, Kizzy Edgell's sexuality is a topic fans are interested in, and the star is happy to oblige. They have backed the queer community at London Pride and supported a cast mate who was hounded online.
With everything there is to know about Kizzy Edgell, pronouns are a good starting point, they/them/he/him. On the Netflix sensation, "Heartstopper," they play Darcy Olsson, an outgoing lesbian.
Their character is a constant source of inspiration for them, and they have collaborated with showrunner Alice Oseman, on whose graphic novel the show is based. They were among the first to come up for Kit Connor when he was forcibly outed.

Kizzy Edgell Is Transgender and Not "Scared" to Open up about Themself
"You feel a sense of responsibility, which is strange," Edgell admitted to Glamor in August 2023 ahead of the second season of "Heartstopper's" release:
"I'm 20. I have nothing figured out."
Not long before that interview, the Brit shared on Instagram Stories that they are "transmasculine," clarifying that they are "not a girl", and stated that they go by the pronouns he or they.
"I haven't felt scared to talk about myself. I know that it could potentially happen, but I don't feel frightened. Which is nice," they said gratefully.
When they feel uncertain about a situation, their roommate will ask what the extrovert Darcy would do.
They began their transgender journey in 2022 when they dropped out of university and moved in with their best friend; they shared in a social media update on the last day of that year.

Kizzy Edgell Came up for Her Cast Mate in a Significant Way
In October 2022, an 18-year-old Kit Connor felt compelled to go on social media and declare that he is bi-sexual after the intense scrutiny around his sexuality. He pointed out in the since-deleted tweet that many seemed to have missed the point of the series.
"I love u, Kit. I'm sorry this has been so disgustingly rough on you. Been treated so unfairly," Edgell tweeted in support a few hours later.
Connor portrays Nick Nelson, a popular rugby player who starts questioning his sexuality when he becomes desk mates with Joe Locke's Charlie Spring, who is bullied for being gay. His mother is played by Olivia Colman.
The Impact of Kizzy Edgell's Gay Role In "Heartstopper" on Their Life
Edgell sees their character as "braver" and a "much bigger person" than they are. When they feel uncertain about a situation, their roommate will ask what the extrovert Darcy would do. They explained:
"The Darcy thing helps me with my self-esteem."
After London Pride 2022, where the cast marched together, Edgell thanked the organizers and activists who paved the way, "This is the proudest I've ever been, and yesterday I felt like myself without a tinge of shame or fear, so thank you so much."
At the London Pride March 2023, "Heartstopper" had a fabulous float with most of the cast present. Edgell kept dancing joyously when their float passed religious protesters while some of their cast mates gave the protesters the middle finger.
