Bride Starts Crying at Altar When She Hears Late Grandpa's Voice: 'There Wasn't a Dry Eye in the House'

Brittany Yost, a bride from West Virginia, burst into tears when she heard her late grandfather's voice at her wedding. Her reaction was priceless and had the whole crowd crying.

Brittany Yost, a bride from West Virginia, was excited to begin a future with her husband, Jordon, but something she longed for was missing from the wedding ceremony.

The wedding was held at Crab Orchard, West Virginia, on July 22, 2017. The one thing the bride was certain about from when she was a little girl was that her grandfather, Reverend Ronald Adkins, would officiate her wedding.

Throughout the plans for her big day, Brittany avoided the question of who would officiate her wedding because her grandfather died in 2016, a week after she got engaged and a year before her wedding. "Truthfully, I would've been honored to have him there." she expressed.

So, she asked Jordon to take care of it. But she did not expect her future husband to pull all the stops to make her dreams a reality.

What Happened at the Wedding?

Brittany's sister, Summer, had the privilege of having Adkins officiate her wedding in 2015. She knew it was Brittany's dream, so she approached Jordon and suggested she get the audio of her grandfather praying at her wedding for her sister to have the same experience.

Summer was able to get her photographer, Sarah Irvin, to cut the audio. Just as the wedding ceremony was about to end, the priest asked everyone to bow their heads for prayer.

This was when Adkins's audio of him praying over the couple and announcing them as husband and wife started playing. Brittany immediately broke into tears. "When I first heard a voice over the speaker, I knew immediately who it was. My heart shattered, but I felt so much joy and happiness through all the tears," said the bride.

The groom also expressed that he got to know Adkins before he passed, so having him included at their wedding was special for him too. He was unsure how his wife would react to the audio, but her reaction was priceless, so much so that he could not help but cry too.

The photographer also captured the exact moment that Brittany recognized Adkins' voice. But Irvin could also not stop sobbing at how sweet and emotional the moment was." I was crying so hard I was shaking. […] We've all lost someone. We all have someone that we'd love to hear their voice for one last time." she added.

But the whirlwind of emotions was experienced by everyone at the ceremony. "There wasn’t a dry eye in the house," said Brittany. The photographer also remembered when the groom was told to kiss the bride, no one moved, and only sniffles were heard.

One man even went up to Irvin and confessed that he was glad to have been standing next to a tree because he also could not stop crying. Brittany will forever remember this moment and believes it was an important way for her and Jordon to start their life as husband and wife.

The bride said she could feel her grandfather's presence even before the surprise audio. Just before she walked down the aisle, her father told her, "Your grandpa would be so proud of you."
