Cleopatra Coleman's love for performing sprouted in childhood and was nurtured by her parents. She was born to a Jamaican mother, Turquoise Coleman, and a Scottish father, Mick Coleman.

The couple raised their daughter in an alternative community in Byron Bay, where Cleopatra recalled being surrounded by artists and art. Turquoise and Mick were also artists who supported Cleopatra's ambitions to act and dance.

Cleopatra Coleman's Mother, Turquoise Coleman, Is a Fashion Graduate

Turquoise holds a degree in Haute Couture. She arrived in the United States in the 1980s with dreams of pursuing a career in fashion. She revealed this information in a lengthy nostalgic post about her adventures in Hollywood, seeking to expand her repertoire as a "devout follower of fashion."

It's unclear when she left the US, but she currently works as a "holistic beautician" and energy healer. She is also the full-time owner of I AM GODDESS MAKEOVERS. Like Cleopatra, Turquoise is also a former dancer.

Cleopatra Coleman's Parents Moved to Help Kickstart Her Professional Career

Cleopatra began dancing when she was four. She accompanied a family friend to a kids' ballet class and fell in love with the art form. When she got home, she asked to be enrolled for ballet lessons. However, Cleopatra eventually drifted away from dance and felt more inclined to act.

She was particularly fond of sci-fi and fantasy productions. When she got word of auditions being held, she convinced her parents to move to Melbourne and finally landed a role in a TV series called "Silversun."

Cleopatra was 15 and on a train with her dad when she got the call. Traveling hadn't been an issue for the Colemans, as Cleopatra described it as part of their tradition. Creativity was another ever-present element in their home.

Cleopatra said their household was always filled with "intense creative energy." Apart from her biracial identity, that element shaped who she became. But she's only one of many young artists raised and influenced by creative parents, including Rashida Jones, Sophie Wilde, Tanita Strahan, and Piper Gooding.
