Kevin Bacon & Wife Celebrate 35th Anniversary — The Empty Nesters Live on a Quirky Farmhouse
Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon just celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary! The couple is enjoying their quiet life as empty nesters and living on a farm with their animals.
Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon are successful actors who have been happily married in Hollywood for 35 years. Each of them shared a tribute for their milestone anniversary.
Sedgwick posted a photo from the first day they met on the "Lemon Sky" set. 'It was 1987- on the set of "Lemon Sky" - I met a man named Kevin. Happy 35, my love," she wrote.
Her husband also shared a throwback picture from their younger days. "35 years feels like a heartbeat," Bacon gushed. The couple's love story began in 1987 on the set of "Lemon Sky." For Bacon, it was love at first sight. "I was knocked out. I thought she was amazing," he recalled.
The "Sleepers" star had already starred in the iconic film "Footloose," so he was on the rise to fame. Sedgwick had not yet seen the film, and her first impression of the actor was that he was full of himself.
But despite her skepticism, the "Tremors" actor convinced her to go on a date with him. They ended up having a good time, full of long conversations and laughter. After that night, Sedgwick knew he was the one.
Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon’s Quiet Life and Secret to 35 Years Together
Sedgwick and Bacon own multiple homes. They have one in New York, Los Angeles, and Connecticut. During the early stages of the COVID-19 lockdown, the couple spent their time in Los Angeles but eventually moved to their quirky farmhouse in Connecticut for a quieter life.
The actors enjoy their life outside of busy Los Angeles and New York. And while they keep their lives private, Bacon has given fans a tiny look into their farmhouse. Their property also hosts a variety of animals, including alpacas and goats.
In addition to the serenity they experience being away from the glam and glitz of Hollywood, Sedgwick and Bacon's lives are even quieter now that they are empty nesters. The "Loverboy" actress opened up about the experience and transition of seeing their children, Travis and Sosie, move out.
Sedgwick relived being an empty nester on the comedy show "Call Your "Mother," where she played a mom adjusting to an empty house.
"I think it's a real crushing blow, honestly, when they leave you," the actress said about seeing her kids leave. It was not easy watching her children leave, but she knew she had done a good job for them to have gained independence. The mother of two has been proud to see her children learn from each other.
As for the secret to over three decades of marriage, both Bacon and Sedgwick believe a sense of humor is very important. Even though the couple both have busy lives, it has been lovely for Bacon to watch his wife thrive as a director.
He said his wife had been the happiest behind the camera, and Sedgwick added that she loved being in control of the storytelling. When they are not at work, they love to keep their time together intimate and simple.
Bacon said he loved it when they just went on walks and talked all night. It is a simple thing to do together, but still very enjoyable for Bacon.
