Morgan Harvey's Growing Food Empire
Morgan's love for cooking began in her mother and grandmother's kitchens, where she always tried new recipes and, to the best of her ability, replicated those of her grandmother, from cornbread to holiday ham and cookies.
According to her website, "Her love for cooking stemmed from her love for people, and the ability that this gift had to bring her loved ones together, and to make people have a great time." She graduated with a degree in Baking and Pastry from the Culinary Institute of America in 2011.
Before culinary school, Morgan had attended Spelman College between 2005 and 2009. Her career in food has since blossomed, working for prestigious bakeries, Atlanta-based special events companies, and guest-appearing as a chef on the "Steve Harvey Show."
She has also launched her brand, I Need Some Mo, where she shares recipes, kitchen hacks, and tips for various occasions, including cocktails, side dishes, kids' parties, quick dinners, and more. Morgan also published the e-book "Party Heart," full of recipes she made for her daughter's second birthday.
Morgan Harvey and Kareem Hawthorne: Partners in Love, Parenthood, and Business
Morgan married Kareem Hawthorne, a.k.a DJ Bruckup, on October 12, 2013. The pair met while studying at Spelman College in 2006 and began dating three years later. They celebrated their ninth wedding anniversary in 2022, with Morgan writing:
"Happy 9-year Anniversary to us @djbruckup!! We have been faithful to this journey, and I love you more now than I ever did [...]."
Morgan and Kareem have two daughters, Elle, born in 2015, and Marley Jean, born in September 2020. On Marley's first birthday, her mom shared a sweet video montage, giving her followers a glimpse of the joy the little one had brought their family.
In addition to being doting parents, Morgan and Kareem are business partners; they co-own two nightclubs and an entertainment enterprise that handles live events. In 2018, the couple put their heads together for a card game inspired by the Black experience. They called it "Lift Every Voice and Meme!"
Morgan Harvey's Blended Family
When Morgan's mother married her stepdad, she told him she wanted his and her children under one roof. The eldest of the "Harvey Bunch in brown," as Steve quipped, are twins Brandi and Karli Harvey, born in Steve's first marriage to Marcia Harvey.
Broderick Harvey Jr. was his first son, also from his first marriage before it ended in 1994. Steve then had Wynton Harvey in his second marriage to Mary Shackelford, which ended tumultuously in 2005.
When he married Marjorie Harvey (recently accused of infidelity), Morgan, Lori Harvey, and Jason Harvey completed the Harvey clan. The family of nine has remained close-knit since coming together, spending quality time and enjoying each other's company now and then.
