Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, 50, is best known for her incredible acting feats and entrepreneurial mindset. Aside from her successful career, the "Shallow Hal" star is also a mother to Apple and Moses Martin, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Chris Martin, 46.

Though Gwyneth and Chris are no longer together, she has always praised him as an amazing dad to their two kids. In fact, in a past interview from 2013, Gwyneth gushed over how she believes she chose the best father to parent her children.

She went on to say that Chris took a lot of weight off her shoulders, and the two could always rely on each other for support and making good decisions as committed co-parents together. As a mother, Gwyneth is very hands-on about raising and prioritizing her children's well-being.

When they were younger, and she and Chris were still together, living in London, she spoke about her and Chris doing their best to provide them with as normal a life as possible. Moses and Apple's privacy came as a top priority; whether it was picking them up from school or getting to know the moms of their friends, their life in London made flying under the radar more plausible than in Los Angeles. She explained:

"In Britain, they have a lot of laws to protect you and we enforce them very strongly so that our children can stay private figures, and the British press leave us alone, which is great...We can do normal things."

While discussing motherhood and family life in a previous interview, Gwyneth mentioned that her kids had been pining for a younger sibling, an idea that crossed her mind as well, but a thought that left her with a slightly more conflicted view given the devastating loss she and Chris went through when she miscarried.

Gwyneth Paltrow Revealed That She 'Nearly Died' from a Miscarriage

Years ago, during a past sit-down interview in which she discussed various details about her life as a career woman, wife, and mom of two, it came out that Gwyneth had suffered a miscarriage. She had been pregnant with her third baby when the tragedy ensued.

When the interviewer asked the "The Talented Mr. Ripley" actress whether she wanted to have another baby, in addition to citing her kids' desire to have a younger sibling, Gwyneth revealed the story of her last pregnancy. The 50-year-old disclosed:

"...you never know — I could squeeze one more in. I am missing my third...I had a really bad experience when I was pregnant with my third and it didn't work out and I nearly died. So I am, like, 'Are we good here or should we go back and try again?' "

Prior to opening up about her miscarriage, in another interview a year before her revelation, Gwyneth found herself responding to the same question about having a third baby. That time, she said she thought she had missed her window but remarked:

"I would love to, but I don't know if I can go back to diapers and things like that..."

Fast forward to the moment she spoke about her miscarriage, Gwyneth also divulged other details about the place she found herself in, health-wise. The Hollywood icon recalled a frightening health scare that prompted her to get tests done by her doctors.

One day in spring 2011, while at home, Gwyneth lost control of one of her hands and had a headache that was so severe and blinding that she thought she was suffering from a stroke. Extensive testing at a medical facility revealed that the star had a myriad of health issues.

Talking about her kids is something Gwyneth has done often.

Gwyneth said she had anemia, a vitamin D deficiency, a congested liver, thyroid problems, a benign tumor on her ovary (which was removed), and hormonal imbalances. After a realization that she needed to make a change, Gwyneth's doctor and good friend helped her get her health back on track.

Getting her health back on track went far beyond curing her health ailments. In fact, since writing cookbooks and founding her wellness and lifestyle company, Goop, the mother of two has continued to lead a healthy lifestyle, something which she has also made protocol for her kids.

In the same interview where she revealed that she had a miscarriage, the news outlet that published the article also brought attention to the fact that Gwyneth had banned Apple and Moses from eating foods high in carbs, like pasta and rice. Although it caused a stir amongst some, Gwyneth was doing it all in the interest of her kids, whom she loves and cares for deeply.

For Gwyneth, motherhood is everything. During a special CBS segment for Mother's Day last year, Gwyneth reminisced about the moment she became a mother for the first time with her daughter Apple.

She described this wave of love rushing over her the minute Apple was born. However, the second go around, when she gave birth to Moses, though she loved him fiercely, it was not the same experience she had with Apple, as she confessed to suffering from postpartum depression.

Gwyneth has discussed motherhood for some time now. The topic is evidently something near and dear to her heart and something she talked about with iconic singer Katy Perry on The Goop Podcast earlier this year.

The two women talked about how relationships impact family dynamics, and Gwyneth touched on her birthing experience. During the conversation, Gwyneth mentioned her kids and spoke about never feeling lonely after giving birth.

Talking about her kids is something Gwyneth has done often. The mom of two loves to take any opportunity to boast about them, especially her daughter, Apple.

In a previous sit-down interview, when Apple and Moses had just embarked on teenagehood, Gwyneth spoke about how they were at the age of being easily embarrassed by anything she did in public. She also opened up about teaching Apple to drive.

Last year, while speaking with Hailey Bieber, Gwyneth disclosed that having Apple changed her perspective on her career. After welcoming her little girl, the "Sliding Doors" talent divulged:

"I really loved the acting part of acting, but the life was a little hard and lonely for me. And then, when I had my daughter, it was a real inflection point in my life where I really reassessed everything, and I just thought, 'I'm not sure that I want to do this full-time.' And so I kind of stopped for a while..."

Now, the little girl who influenced her mom's career pause is a college student. Gwyneth was candid about her emotions while dropping off Apple at college and said she cried extensively.

Though it was tough for the doting mama bear to see her baby girl off to college, she expressed that her strong and independent daughter went into her college experience with an open mind and heart.

Of her kids, Gwyneth also shared that both Apple and Moses inherited many of her favorable traits, which she sees shine through as they get older.
