John Cena and his four siblings, all brothers, grew up in the small town of West Newbury, Massachusetts. None of his brothers followed the wrestler into the ring, but one has experience as an actor.

John Cena is the second of five brothers. He has an older brother, Stephen Cena, and his younger siblings are Daniel Cena, Matthew Cena, and Sean Cena. In 2012, he gave a health update on one of his siblings to an area full of wrestling fans.

The "Fast X" star admitted on "The Kelly Clarkson Show" that he and his siblings had gotten into trouble with the police when they were younger. The middle Cena brother has since followed a career in law enforcement.

Stephen graduated from Pentucket Regional High School in 1992. He was teased and picked on for his sexual orientation in high school and college while studying for his Computer Science and Electrical Engineering associate degrees at Vermont Technical College.

In 1995, he moved to Rochester, New York, to further his studies at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where he joined the drama club. Although he dropped out of RIT, he remained in the area to work as a computer systems administrator.

Stephen became part of the community theatre scene in 2004, and five years later, he took up voice work. Both these art forms have become great "passions." On the side, he dabbles in video game design.

At 19 in 1998, Daniel began his career in law enforcement as a dispatcher and auxiliary police officer. He has a degree in criminal justice from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. While on duty in February 2007, a drunk driver smashed into his cruiser.

Sean Cena was diagnosed with cancer.

On Kelly Clarkson's show with John in 2019, he shared how he was lucky to have only broken his leg. First responders used the Jaws of Life to retrieve him from the crushed vehicle. He was promoted to sergeant at the West Newbury Police Department in July 2008.

The youngest brother, Sean Cena, was diagnosed with cancer in November 2011 and had an inoperable brain tumor. John Cena announced on March 5, 2012, on the sidelines of "WWE Raw," that the tumor was shrinking after radiation and chemotherapy.

"Early detection saved his life," John said, giving an update that September. Sean was in the 2004 documentary "John Cena: Word Life," which featured Kurt Angle, Mark Calaway, aka The Undertaker, and John Cena Sr.
