Mishel Prada has said that due to being in a long-term relationship with a boyfriend, she could not explore all the sides of her sexuality at one point. She was once in a public relationship with a man.

"The Continental" star Mishel Prada gave snapshots into her love life earlier in her career, but it has become more private. However, she has not deleted the posts of her boyfriend of over a decade ago.

The intersectional nature of her breakout show "Vida," in which she played the type-A Emma, meant that she was confronted with concepts she had to search online and was asked questions about her sexuality in the press.

Mishel Prada Dated Folk Rock Musician Stewart Cole

In 2012, Prada sporadically posted photos with her "honey" Stewart Cole. A common theme of these posts was him being away, likely for work as a musician, and her celebrating his return.

"Stewart leads a charmed life," the trumpeter's sister used to gripe. This sentiment inspired his first and only tattoo on his March 10, 2020, birthday.

Cole plays "all kinds of horns and keys and things, on all kinds of songs and scores and thing," per his Instagram bio. He has toured with Marcus Mumford's Mumford & Sons and is also affiliated with another folk rock band, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros.

He was featured on Katy Perry's "All You Need Is Love" and on multiple songs of Gwen Stefani's 2017 Christmas album "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," including the title track with Blake Shelton. He has also contributed horns to Foster the People projects.

Asked if she identifies as straight, Prada responded in the negative.

The Pisces was in the musical departments of the films "Pawn Shop Chronicles" and "Engaging Peter" and worked on "Let It Down" on the soundtrack of the television series "Good Behavior."

Mishel Prada's Boyfriend Was Jealous of Her First Onscreen Kiss

In an Associated Press interview with her "Vida" sister, Melissa Barrera, Prada revealed that her first onscreen kiss was in a movie a friend directed in high school.

It was awkward because her boyfriend was the director of photography, and the couple fought on set about her kissing scene. In "Vida," she had many sex scenes and admitted she had to Google some of the acts in the script.

In the show, her character's steely exterior is cracked by Nico, portrayed by Roberta Colindrez. "To be a scene partner with Mishel Prada is really dreamy, too," Colindrez said in 2020. "She's an incredible person to work with."

Labels Do Not Bind Mishel Prada Sexual Identity

Asked if she identifies as straight, Prada responded in the negative. "I feel completely capable of falling in love with whoever makes sense," she said, "and I've always felt that way." A line by her "Vida" character resonated with her:

"I was in a really long relationship," she said, "so I think that kind of hinders the ability to explore other avenues, but I feel completely open to whatever life brings."

Unlike her character Emma, who was shunned by her mom, the actress has the full support of her mother regarding her sexuality. Her sister feels the same way she does about relationships and has been in relationships with women for the past decade.
