The speculation about Mulligan being pregnant began in May 2015, with multiple sources telling media houses such as US Weekly that the actress was expecting her first child. That same month, the actress wore a black gazar trapeze gown seemingly meant to conceal the baby bump.

The following month, Mulligan appeared on the red carpet at the Tony Awards in New York City in an oxblood color gown which also hid the pregnancy to some extent. However, an official announcement did not come from the couple.

The actress then revealed her daughter's name in October 2015 during the premiere of "Suffragette," in which she starred alongside Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter. She said they named her Evelyn, and there was no story behind the name.

The family continues to live privately but is occasionally spotted out and about. In October 2017, the three were seen walking around London with their newly arrived fourth addition, Wilfred, born two months earlier.

Evelyn Mumford's Mother Is an Oscar Nominee

Mulligan is a native of England, where she was born in London on May 28, 1985. Her mother was a university lecturer, and her father was a hotel conglomerate executive. Her passion for acting took center stage there, and Mulligan was actively involved in the school's drama department. Despite her parents' objection, she decided to continue pursuing acting over getting a university education. She failed to gain entrance into several acting schools. However, that did not stop her from pushing on.

In 2004, Mulligan got her first professional role as a narcoleptic teen in a "Forty Winks" stage production at the Royal Court Theatre in London. Links with a producer who had given a lecture at her secondary school then got her a minor role as Catherine Bennet in "Pride and Prejudice" starring Keira Knightley and Matthew MacFadyen.

From then, her career began to grow in leaps and bounds as she appeared in a BBC mini-series, "Bleak House" again in 2005, followed by a series of other appearances in film and television shows over the coming years. Mulligan has received acclaim for her performances in many productions since bursting onto the scene.

She was nominated for the Best Actress category, which Sandra Bullock, then already a Hollywood veteran, eventually won.

Mulligan has become known for being picky about her roles; hence, she does appear on-screen as often. Still, she has given many memorable performances, and 11 years after her first Oscar nomination, the actress got her second for portraying Cassandra Thomas in "Promising Young Woman."

Their church roots were a big part of their upbringing, and they incorporated that into their wedding in 2012. Marcus's father, a leader in the church, officiated the ceremony, hosted in a converted barn on a countryside farm.

Mulligan told Vogue that her husband was the only thing that is hers, that she can completely keep away. Therefore, her quietness about their personal lives is not surprising.
