On September 15, 2015, Mulligan and Marcus welcomed their first child. The details surrounding the birth were private. However, the actress confirmed giving birth to a girl on "The Graham Norton Show" three weeks later.

The actress then revealed her daughter's name in October 2015 during the premiere of "Suffragette," in which she starred alongside Meryl Streep and Helena Bonham Carter. She said they named her Evelyn, and there was no story behind the name.

Mulligan is a native of England, where she was born in London on May 28, 1985. Her mother was a university lecturer, and her father was a hotel conglomerate executive. Her passion for acting took center stage there, and Mulligan was actively involved in the school's drama department.
