Three Times We Saw Patrick Duffy with One of His Sons Who Visited Him ‘All the Time’ When He Was Widowed
- Fate led to Patrick Duffy meeting the love of his life, who became the mother of his two children.
- Sadly, years after losing Carlyn Rosser, Patrick still missed her and was lucky to have the support of their sons.
- Although his sons pursued careers in the entertainment industry, sightings of them alongside their father are rare.

Patrick Duffy met Carlyn Rosser on a tour bus when he was 22 and she was ten years his senior. The duo locked eyes during the trip, and despite him being an immature college graduate from the University of Washington's actor's training program and her a ballerina, he thought she was beautiful.
The young actor was the narrator for the Seatle Symphony dance production. Carlyn was initially unimpressed by Patrick and thought he was boring, but a belief system brought them together.

Carlyn returned for rehearsals after going on a long trip, jumping back and working hard, leaving Patrick in awe. The actor asked the ballerina how she pulled that off, and she told him she chanted and introduced him to Buddhism.
The pair's love started growing from that connection, and they were hooked for life. The bond they shared was so unique that they couldn't imagine dating other people. In 1974, the couple got married, and a little more than ten months later, their first child, Padraic, was born.

As he worked on supporting his family with his acting, he received five scripts to choose from. He and his wife chanted together before landing on the "Dallas" script, where he would play the role of Bobby Ewing for many years.

Patrick took on the role for seven years and eventually felt bored by the script. He didn't want anyone else playing Ewing and wished for the character to be killed. The show's producers tried to convince him to stay on, but he felt they were trying to guilt him because of all they'd done for him.

When he left "Dallas," he had no other work lined up, and Padraic, then ten, was shocked that his father didn't have a soft landing prepared. But the series had made him a millionaire, and he and his wife had another son, Conor.

Patrick once revealed that he didn't mind if his sons followed in his career footsteps. In fact, both boys made guest appearances on "Dallas," and when he was on "Step By Step," he didn't mind if they were featured there too.
In 1991, the star revealed how Conor was infatuated with acting but too young to make a professional decision about it, while his older brother wanted to go and get a business degree and learn to make a living before turning to acting.
One person Patrick credited for his success is his wife, whom he described as his "anchor." Sadly, a tragedy in his life years later would leave him broken but with lots of support from his sons.
What Happened in Patrick's Life after Years of Marriage?
In 2017, Patrick and his sons were dealt a hard blow when Carlyn passed away at 77 after 43 years of marriage. Two years later, the actor revealed that he can still hear and see her and isn't over her death.

The star felt he'd never be ready to move on from Carlyn as he still felt her close to him. What he missed most about his wife was her touch, and he confessed to still considering himself a "married man."
The widower and his wife always felt they were more than enough for each other, so he didn't know how to pick himself up when she died. An insider claimed Patrick didn't hide his true feelings about losing his wife, adding:
"He's grateful for the years they had together but wishes they had more."

His wife's death came unexpectedly, but luckily, he could lean on his sons and their families for support. Despite their support, Patrick admitted that he is more adjusted to handling the loss because, at his age, he knows the road ahead is shorter than the one behind.
The actor keeps moving forward and has no regrets, and he is okay, and life has been good to him. According to a source, Conor and Padraic—both working in show business—and their families visit Patrick's home "all the time" because he "hates being alone."

The celebrity is very close with his family and loves having them over. Besides his sons and their families, the star also relied on Buddhism to help him learn to live life without his wife, with a source claiming he is "calm" and "centered" because of his faith.
The star's oldest son even shared a different photo from the same occasion on his X (formerly Twitter) account.

Another thing that helped him cope was his then-four grandchildren, whom he described as his "greatest pleasures." They gave him the same joy he and Carlyn felt with their sons when they first welcomed them into the world.

The actor feels like he's getting to relive memories. Although he is pretty close to his sons and shares a bond with them, it's rare for Patrick to be seen with them; however, there were moments when it happened.
What Occasions Was Patrick Seen with His Son?
Although both Padraic and Conor are in the entertainment industry, they're rarely seen with their father. However, on September 22, 2010, Patrick was seen with Padraic and his wife at the Los Angeles premiere of his movie, "You Again," held at Hollywood's El Capitan Theater.

Another time the legendary actor was seen with Padraic was at the Buzzfeed White House Correspondents Dinner on May 3, 2014. In the image, the pair smiled for the camera as they appeared to be having a great time at the event.

On May 1, 2015, we saw Padraic again with his father at the 29th Annual Charlie Awards Luncheon by the Hollywood Arts Council. The event was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in California.
Like he did with the Buzzfeed party, Patrick's son shared an X selfie of him smiling alongside his father during the event. He tagged his father in the post and revealed they represented the Sacred Fools Theater Company.
