Unfortunately, time for Fawcett was limited. She lost her battle with cancer when she was 62, but to this day, the glamourous actress is still remembered for her iconic hair.

Outside of being a successful actress, Fawcett started to realize the kind of influence she had with her appearance. She was one of the people that made feather bangs famous.

Her friends also saw how much Fawcett was loved for her big layered blonde hair, so they often advised her to start a hair line. Eventually, her hair and beauty led her to become the face of Wella Balsam shampoo and Ultra-Brite toothpaste.

Her influence only got bigger from there. Women started walking into salons, asking for "The Farrah." While the actress initially capitalized on her influence through commercials, she eventually launched her own shampoo line in 1978.

Losing Her Hair to Cancer

After a fulfilling career that spanned decades, Fawcett met her end in 2009. She was reportedly with her longtime partner Ryan O'Neal, friend Alana Stewart, friend and hairdresser Mela Murphy, and her doctor Lawrence Piro when she died.

Her close friends and family had watched how the actress did everything she could to care for her hair to avoid losing it. But after her last round of chemotherapy, her hair started falling out.

Fawcett was reportedly sad, but towards the end of her battle, she had entirely made peace with her situation.

According to her doctor, it was important for her to shave her own head because she did not want to be defined by cancer or her hair. The moment represented her refusing to be the victim and choosing to come out of the experience victorious.

Sharing her cancer journey was to show fans that there was no glamour behind fighting the torturous disease. Her doctor, Piro, explained, "She wanted to show everyone that cancer looks the same on one of the most glamorous, beautiful women in the world as it looks on every other woman and every other man."
