Sam Rockwell Has No Kids — The Actor Does Not Want to Be a Parent
54-year-old Sam Rockwell has chosen a life with no kids and shared the reason behind his decision. The actor has also been in a long-term relationship with a fellow Hollywood star, but the pair has yet to make it to the altar.
Following his upbringing in a single-parent home, actor Sam Rockwell saw first-hand how much work parenthood required and thus decided not to welcome any children of his own. The "Poltergeist" star also admitted to not understanding children.
Sam Rockwell is in a relationship with actress Leslie Bibb, and the pair chose to be children-free. However, the former admitted they often received negative responses whenever they revealed so.

Sam Rockwell and His Partner Have Been Together for Over 15 Years and Do Not Have Any Children
Bibb and Rockwell's relationship began in 2007 following a love-at-first-sight encounter, and the pair have been by each other's side since. However, they have yet to marry or welcome any children.
The two actors share a German Shepperd, which Bibb helps to take care of. But the couple has not tied the knot as they already live like a married couple and enjoy their life without kids. Rockwell shared:
"'Leslie and I are very happy. We have a good life. We just like it the way it is. We don't want kids. It's interesting when you tell people this. They get very upset with you. I know more and more couples who don't have kids."

In 2018, Bibb and her husband humorously revealed the secret to their long-lasting relationship had been communication, "good sex," and a healthy sense of humor. That same year, Rockwell shared the couple had a rule that no more than two or three weeks could pass without seeing each other.
Rockwell added he also didn't want to be selfish and end up being a bad parent.

Sam Rockwell's Mother Couldn't 'Handle' Being a Parent
Rockwell was born to two actors, but after his parents divorced when he was five, he moved to San Fransico to live with his father. During an interview, the actor revealed it was around this time that his mother "couldn't handle" being a parent anymore.
Thus, Rockwell grew up in a single-parent home for a while before his father remarried, only seeing his mother during the summers. Rockwell reminisced about how many odd jobs his father had to take to put food on the table and realized how much work parenthood really was.

Sam Rockwell on Why He Does Not Want Kids
In addition to seeing how demanding parenthood is, Rockwell revealed he did not want to have children and be a parent because he didn't quite "get" kids. He shared:
"It's weird. I don't get children. I don't quite understand it. I think being an only child means you learn to live in your own world."
The actor — who has worked with Taraji P. Henson, Anjelica Huston, and Clark Gregg — also admitted to steering clear of parenthood because there was no guarantee the child would "turn out great." Rockwell added he also didn't want to be selfish and end up being a bad parent.
