Josh Jacobs' Kids: The NFL Star Shields His Son from the Spotlight
Although Josh Jacobs has been open about his humble beginnings, the NFL star keeps a tight lid on his personal life, especially regarding his son, Braxton Jacobs. The youngster was born just as his father's pro football career began.
In April 2019, during the NFL draft, Tulsa native Josh Jacobs became the 24th first-round pick for the Raiders. It was a momentous occasion for the star running back, and he wasn't celebrating alone.
The mother of his child, Janee Brown, gave an interview after the announcement, praising Josh's qualities, describing him as someone who's determined, "strong," and "independent." Janee wasn't alone during the brief chat; her son, Braxton Jacobs, also chimed in.
When Janee asked Braxton if he was excited to see his dad play, he enthusiastically agreed. And when his mom asked if he could run faster than Josh, whose team was once coached by John Madden and is now owned by Mark Davis, he replied, "YEAH!" The interview is Braxton's only known public appearance.
Josh Jacobs's Kids: His Son Was Born Just before College
Josh rarely talks about Braxton, but he once spoke about becoming a father in a 2017 interview. Braxton was born the same day he signed with the Alabama Crimson Tide on National Signing Day. The NFL star described that day as a "whirlwind," with two momentous occasions co-occurring.

As he signed with Crimson Tide, he began wondering if it would be the right decision as it meant he'd be away from Braxton. As a kid, he once spent three months homeless, moving from hotel to hotel with his dad, Marty Jacobs, and his siblings.
Josh didn't want that life for Braxton, and as he held the then-newborn in his arms, all doubts about moving to Alabama disappeared. "When I finally held him and looked at him, it was a crazy feeling. I tell people that was the first time I ever felt like I really loved something in my life," he recalled, adding:
"At the end of the day, I knew it was going to be a crazy three to four years being away. But I knew I was going to make it worth it."

Josh Jacobs' Son Saved His Grandfather's Life
In January 2023, news broke that Josh's father, Marty, was ill, but Braxton intervened immediately to help his grandfather. Braxton called 911 when he saw his grandfather was in pain. Marty then underwent emergency heart surgery afterward.
Josh confirmed the news following a game with the Kansas City Chiefs. He shared that Marty and Braxton were "best friends," adding, "You already see one, you always see the other." The footballer keeps Braxton hidden from the spotlight, with his socials focused on work-related content.
Josh Jacobs Also Has a Loving Relationship with Marty Jacobs
When Josh welcomed Braxton with Janee, Marty encouraged him to be a present father. "I just want to remind him that those things are important. I don't want him to be one of those guys where sending money is enough," Marty said in 2017.
Marty had welcomed two children from a previous relationship that he paid child support for, but he wasn't an active part of their lives. He lived with that regret and didn't want Josh to make that same mistake with Braxton. Three years later, Josh made headlines after surprising his dad with a new home.
