Marlon Wayans Opens Up about ‘Very Painful Situation’ after His Son Came Out as Transgender

Marlon Wayans found himself in a harrowing situation when his son came out as transgender. The loving and supportive father opened up about their circumstances in a recent interview.

Marlon Wayans' love as a father is unconditional. He had always been supportive of his two kids, Shawn Howell Wayans and Amai Zackary Wayans.

In 2019, the comedian shared a touching post showing how proud he was of his daughter Amai, who now goes by Kai Zackary. "Happy pride to my pride and joy. I wouldn't change one [expletive] thing about you," Marlon wrote.

That same year, the doting dad shared a photo of him embracing Kai and kissing him on the forehead. "This is your safe space," he assured his daughter, now son.

In a recent interview on "The Breakfast Club," Marlon revealed that his daughter transitioned into a son. He also confirmed that his daughter, Amai, now calls himself Kai.

Marlon had to go through the process of accepting his son. Initially, he was in denial and ignorant of the situation.

"It was a very painful situation for me, but man, it's one of the best, funniest hours I probably could ever imagine."

However, after the initial acceptance stage, Marlon realized there was nothing more he wanted than for his children to be happy. "I just want my kids to be free," he said.

Marlon Wayans came from a family with ten siblings. He grew up knowing how vital individuality was, and there's nothing more important to him than for his children to grow up confident in who they are, no matter who they choose to be.
