"I lost a lot of sleep thinking about it," Strait admitted, acknowledging the difficulty in stepping back from a career that has brought him over 65 million album sales, more than 50 No. 1 hits, and numerous CMA and ACM awards. Despite retiring from touring, Strait did not leave the music industry.

He planned to work on a new album and continue live performances selectively. He said that performing was all he had done for 30 years, emphasizing his love for music and performance. Strait's tour, "The Cowboy Rides Away," marks a significant moment in his career, allowing him to reflect on his life's blessings.

The sorrow of losing his daughter, Jenifer, in 1986 remains a painful memory for Strait, yet he considers her a blessing in his life. In a career spanning over three decades, Strait attributes his success to his faith, family, and the support of his fans. As he prepares for his next chapter, Strait looks forward to spending more time with his family, fishing, and playing golf while cherishing the memories and achievements of his illustrious career.
