Reality TV star Mama June Shannon is mourning the loss of her eldest daughter, Anna "Chickadee" Cardwell. In January 2023, the then 28-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 adrenal carcinoma, which was found in her lung, liver, and kidney.

The life-changing discovery was made after Anna went into the hospital in August 2022, suffering from back pain. The reality television star's doctors removed a cyst, but a few months later, she started losing her hair.

She went in for several tests after complaining about having stomach aches before the cancer spread to her other organs. Unfortunately, the 29-year-old reality television star only battled her diagnosis for ten months.

In May 2023, June gave a health update, noting how it had fallen on her to discuss "the endgame" with Anna's two daughters. Anna and her ex-husband, Michael Cardwell, share two young daughters, Kaitlyn and Kylee.

June revealed that the family knew what could happen to Anna, and her children were also aware. However, Anna's oldest child, Kaitlyn, understood their mother's condition more than her younger sister.

The "Mama June: Family in Crisis" star and her husband, Justin Stroud, revealed then that Anna had undergone a second round of chemotherapy to treat adrenal carcinoma, with June adding:

"It's very rare and very aggressive."

The family matriarch then noted how her daughter slept a lot, and on some days, she didn't want to eat. June was left on a rollercoaster of emotions, not knowing whether to be happy, get mad, or scream on some days. Anna was due to undergo another chemotherapy round the following week and was also scheduled for a scan, the results of which came out on May 9, 2023.

The family's journey and Anna's fight against cancer have been shared with the public through social media, where June has been a source of regular updates. In a recent post, the star shared the heart-wrenching news:

"With the breaking heart, we are announcing that @annamarie35 is no longer with us. She passed away in my home last night peacefully at 11:12 PM."

Anna's role in "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" had endeared her to many, and her diagnosis earlier this year had rallied support from fans worldwide. The family has expressed their need for privacy during this difficult time while also acknowledging the support they have received.
