Demi Moore Makes Rare Comment about Caring for Those with the Same Illness as Ex-husband Bruce Willis

Demi Moore recently offered compelling guidance for families dealing with a loved one's dementia, drawing from her own experiences with ex-husband Bruce Willis, who is currently navigating health challenges.
During a conversation on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM show "Radio Andy" on January 24, Moore, joined by her "Feud: Capote Vs. The Swans" co-stars, discussed her blended family dynamics and her supportive relationship with Willis amid his health struggles.
When asked about advice for those caring for family members with dementia, she shared, "I think the most important thing I could share is just to meet them where they're at."
She highlighted the need to release expectations and find joy in the present, stating, "When you let go of who they've been or who you think they [should be], you can then really stay in the present and take in the joy and the love that is present for all that they are, not all that they're not."
Willis received the diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia, commonly known as FTD, in March 2020, accompanied by the challenge of aphasia—a condition affecting speech comprehension and expression. Since then, Moore has devoted substantial time to being with her ex-spouse, often showcasing their blended family dynamics online.
In March 2023, Moore took to social media to celebrate the "Pulp Fiction" actor's birthday. "Happy birthday, BW! So glad we could celebrate you today. Love you and love our family. Thank you to everyone for the love and warm wishes - we all feel them," Moore captioned the touching video.
The family gathering included daughters Rumer, Tallulah, and Scout LaRue from his marriage to Moore, as well as Mabel Ray and Evelyn Penn from his current marriage to Emma Heming Willis.
In September 2023, Willis' wife openly shared her role as his "care partner" and reflected on how his illness had profoundly impacted their relationship. Speaking about the challenges of dementia, she emphasized its impact not only on the diagnosed individual but also on the entire family, including Willis, herself, and their daughters.
She stressed the collective nature of the struggle, underscoring that when it comes to dementia, it genuinely is a "family disease." The mom of two acknowledged uncertainty about Bruce Willis' awareness of his condition, referring to him as "the gift that keeps on giving."
Despite the challenges of his health, she highlighted the positive lessons he imparts to their daughters, including qualities of "love, patience, and resilience."

Besides supporting her ex-husband and his family, Demi Moore is also a doting grandmother to Rumer's daughter, Louetta. During the screening of "Common Ground" on January 11, the first-time grandma gushed about what a delight it is to have a baby in her life.
"[Louetta's] just a pure joy. It really is all the cliches. You get all the fun and joy, and you get to go to bed early and have a good night's sleep," she expressed.
