- Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, lived together for ten years before marriage.
- In the early years of her life, Trudie had body image issues.
- The couple's relationship continues to soar after over three decades of marriage.
Sting and his wife, Trudie Styler, are a long-time couple whose relationship began as an affair. They have publicly gushed over each other and remain solid to date.
Sting, born Gordon Sumner on October 2, 1951, in Wallsend, England, is a renowned English musician. He rose to prominence as the frontman of the band The Police.

The group was established by Sting and drummer Stewart Copeland in 1977. Guitarist Henri Padovani also joined the two. However, they could not find success in England and decided to go to America instead, where they eventually won over audiences with the sound of their music, including reggae rhythms, during their early tours.
The band took a break in 1984. Sting went solo and released his first album a year later in 1985, "The Dream Of The Blue Turtles," which was a success.
He remained a fixture in the music business as he had already retained a fan base. Some of the rocker's popular songs include "Nothing Like the Sun," "Englishman In New York," and "Fragile."

The same year Sting split up with his band members, he and his first wife actress, Frances Tomelty, divorced following seven years of marriage. They welcomed a son, Joe Sumner, and a daughter, Fuschia Sumner.
The split between Sting and Frances came after he had begun an affair with actress Trudie Styler, who later conceived in 1983. In a 2002 interview, Trudie admitted:
"Neither of us are proud of a situation that happened – it just happened. We loved each other and we lived together."

Sting, who starred in "Zoolander 2," with Ben Stiller, Ariana Grande, and Penelope Cruz, disclosed their affair during a press conference and described her as his mistress. After that, people perceived her as a gold digger. But the couple eventually moved on, and Trudie gave birth to their first child, Mickey Sumner, in 1984.
After becoming famous for her relationship with Sting, Trudie spent the next decade of her life being a stay-at-home mom. She and the entertainer welcomed three more kids: Eliot, Jake, and Giacomo Sumner.

Following a decade together, Sting and Trudie walked down the aisle in August 1992 and have been husband and wife for 31 years. In a February 2020 interview, the father of six shared the secret to the couple's long-lasting union, saying:
"People say to me, 'How has it lasted this long?' I say, 'Well, it's kind of a miracle, but we don't take it for granted.' We're friends, too. We love each other, but we actually like each other — and that's an important distinction there."

Sting explained the significant difference between the two, saying love is passion and that liking a romantic partner and enjoying being around them is the opposite. According to him, the relationship lasts longer that way; hence, he stressed the importance of having both.

In another joint interview with his wife, Sting said they are "lucky" to have found each other. He chimed in after Trudie explained that they had also been apart a few times through their years together because of work obligations. But they continued seeing each other often.
Apart from sharing about her marriage, Trudie, a director, previously opened up about her physical appearance. In 1956, she was involved in a road accident after being knocked over by a truck when she was two years old and was dragged beneath it.

Young Trudie's mother initially told her to stay indoors, but she wandered outside on a deserted road. A 16-year-old unlicensed young boy drove by and hit her. Trudie's mother sued and told the judge that her daughter might want to become an actress one day, so she should be compensated. Notably, no one knew the extent of the toddler's injuries then.

The incident left one side of her face florid and gravel-pocked. Trudie's schoolmates teased her about her disfigured face. "I was bullied quite a lot. I got named Scarface," the UK native revealed in an April 2012 interview.
Trudie spent much time hospitalized, and her injury affected her self-esteem. Until she was 18, she did not consider herself attractive in any way. Thanks to her acting career, Trudie divulged she eventually redeemed her self-esteem, saying:
"I had a lot of scarring on my face and my opinion of myself was very low, but once I started learning acting at a grammar school, that changed. [...] When I began to find characters who had nothing to do with being Trudie, I was free."
Trudie's scars are barely visible to date because of collagen treatments. Moreover, her unfortunate experience has made her feel compassion for those who have also been humiliated.

Despite being mistreated for her appearance as a child, Trudie is now being showered with compliments as an adult. In September 2023, she attended a red carpet event and posted photos of herself in an all-black ensemble on Instagram.
In the caption, Trudie revealed that she had a wardrobe malfunction at the event and showed a video of her friend helping her. The movie star's followers commented on the post, writing, "Always beautiful, Trudie!" "Gorgeous as always!" and "Stunning, as always," among other compliments.
Trudie's husband also thinks the world of her. In a December 2019 interview, Sting gushed, "Trudie is my main go-to person." Someone once asked him who the most impressive person he had ever met was, and he answered that it was his beloved wife. "She rocks me," he added.

Trudie also thinks highly of her famous spouse, who has allowed her to be independent all these years and has shown her support. The couple have divided their time between the UK and the US and have grandchildren "from one coast to the other," said Trudie, who loves being a grandmother. They run their household like normal parents and allow their kids to express their thoughts freely.
