This past Sunday, Instagram saw a flurry of heartwarming dedications made to various late celebrity moms to celebrate Mother's Day. These sentimental tributes included posts from the families of Olivia Newton-John, Lisa Marie Presley, Kelly Preston, Naya Rivera, and Suzanne Somers.

Yesterday, the official Instagram page for "Grease" star Olivia Newton-John, who passed away peacefully at 73, shared an endearing picture of the actress with her daughter Chloe Lattanzi. In the throwback image, Olivia is seen beaming widely as she lovingly and protectively holds onto Chloe, who was just a baby when the photo was taken.

"Olivia's favorite thing to do was be a mom. Happy Mother's Day to all the superheroes 💐" reads the post's caption. Family meant everything to the late doting mom who died in her Southern California ranch in 2022, on August 8 "surrounded by family and friends," after a long battle with breast cancer.

Lisa Marie Presley: Daughters Celebrate 'Best Mom Ever'

Iconic late singer-songwriter Lisa Marie Presley, who died at 54 on a Thursday evening in January 2023 after being rushed to the hospital for a potential cardiac arrest, was honored by two of her daughters.

One of her twin daughters, Finley Lockwood, took to social media to post a heartwarming Instagram Story of her late mom that displayed a nostalgic photo of Lisa cuddling her and her twin sister, Harper Lockwood.

Alongside the adorable picture of Finley and Harper dressed in matching princess outfits and wearing tiaras with their doting mom, Finley pinned a message. "Happy Mother's Day to the best mom ever 🕊️❤️ even though we cant celebrate with you im still so grateful for all our memories ❤️❤️," expressed the young girl.

Following suit, Lisa's eldest daughter, Riley Keough, reposted her little sister's tribute on her Instagram Story. Penning her own brief message, she added two pink heart emojis and tagged Finley's Instagram handle.

Kelly Preston: Celebrated by Family on Mother's Day with Messages of Love and Longing

Similar to the photo shared on Olivia's Instagram account and the picture Finley posted on her Instagram Story, the daughter of late Hollywood star Kelly Preston shared a beautiful image of her and her loving mom. Ella Bleu Travolta gave social media users a glimpse into a cherished memory she shared with Kelly.

The picture she posted shows Ella as a baby, taking a bath with her mom who is lovingly looking down at her while holding her up. "Happy Mother's Day, mama [...] I love you so much," wrote Ella in her photo caption.

Like his daughter, legendary actor and husband to Kelly, John Travolta, took to Instagram to share his own dedication. John posted a carousel of three images, each depicting different moments Kelly shared with all three of her children, Ella, Benjamin, and Jett Travolta, the latter of whom tragically passed at 16.

"Happy Mother's Day Kelly. We love you we miss you," penned John alongside the photos of Kelly being a doting mom to their children.

According to a representative of the Travolta family, the "Sky High" star, who passed away at 57, was an "adored wife and mother [...] who cared deeply about others and who brought life to everything she touched." She died after losing a two-year battle with breast cancer.

Continuing with the Mother's Day lovefest, "Glee" star Naya Rivera, who tragically passed at the tender age of 33 in 2020, was celebrated by her son, Josey Dorsey, and ex-husband, Ryan Dorsey.

The doting dad took to his Instagram Story to share a sweet photo of Naya helping her baby boy blow out candles on one of his birthdays with stickers that said, "Miss You Mom" and "Making You Proud."

Ryan then shared a recent photo of Josey playing with a butterfly and followed it with a video taken on the same day showing the young boy releasing more butterflies from a box with the caption, "Happy mother's day 🤍🕊️🤍."

Their tribute honors Naya in a special way that dates back to a bittersweet moment that took place last year, which Ryan spoke about in a recent interview.

After providing context that his son adored butterflies when he was little, Ryan disclosed, "Last year we released a bunch of butterflies while FaceTiming Grandma in honor of Naya. He released them and said 'Happy Mother's Day in heaven, Mommy!' It was equally so heart breaking and sweet."

Naya's death is particularly poignant as it happened while she was with her son. Naya and Josey—who was only four years old at the time—had rented a pontoon boat on a Wednesday to have some fun, however, the day took a dark turn during a swim.

According to reports, when things went awry, the mother could only muster up enough strength to save her son and get him back on the boat, but not herself, resulting in her drowning.

Suzanne Somers: Beloved Quote She Cherished Shared in Loving Tribute

Last but certainly not least on the list of poignant Mother's Day tributes to those who lost their lives is iconic actress Suzanne Somers. A post shared by the late star's team depicts a photo of a lengthy quote that highlights the multi-faceted roles a mother plays and how the spirit of a mother remains with her loved ones.

Suzanne was just a day shy of celebrating her 77th birthday when she passed away surrounded by her immediate family. She had been battling an over 23-year-long "aggressive form of breast cancer."
