Will Reeve explained why the family felt this was the right moment to reintroduce their father's story to the world. He revealed that the project came about unexpectedly, mentioning that they had not been pursuing any specific project until an archivist reached out asking if they had any footage to contribute.

Coincidentally, they had just boxed up their family home and had access to family movies, which set the wheels in motion for the documentary. Will expressed how the timing felt fitting, with the documentary coinciding with the 20th anniversary of their father's death.

Reflecting on the process, Will shared, "We approved of the directors because we like them and their work. We said, 'Go, go make something. We trust you.' And our trust was really rewarded, which was quite a relief because it could go any way."

He added that the experience of watching the documentary come together had been a gift, as it brought many family stories to life that he had not witnessed, being the youngest child.

"With 2024 being the 20-year anniversary of our father's death, that felt like the right time to reintroduce him and his heroic story to the world," he shared in a separate conversation.

In addition to their conversation on "The View," the Reeve siblings, in various interviews, have reflected on their father's work, as an actor and an advocate. Matthew opened up about what it means to help bring their father's story to a new generation.

Speaking to People magazine, he explained, "It's a real honor to just be in a position to help tell his story for the best of my own memories."

He went on to express how much it means to him that the documentary will reach audiences who may be too young to remember their father's "Superman" films, ensuring that his father's impact will continue to inspire future generations.

Alexandra has also spoken about how deeply her father cared about his craft. She recalled, "He was dedicated to his craft, of course, before the accident, but also after — being able to return to acting and directing and showing that a disability wouldn't hold him back."

She added that one of the key themes in the documentary is how Christopher continued to push forward in his career, even after overwhelming obstacles, emphasizing his dual legacy: his dedication to acting and his passionate advocacy for disability rights and medical research.
