Lisa Marie's Husband Married Her amid Child Molestation Allegations to Divert Attention, Priscilla Presley Alleges
The actress now alleges her daughter’s whirlwind marriage to the King of Pop was no love story, but a carefully staged union that masked deeper troubles and left her unsettled from the start.
The memory of Lisa Marie Presley's brief marriage to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson, was never just another headline-grabbing Hollywood story for her mother, Priscilla Presley.
In her bombshell new memoir, "Softly, As I Leave You: Life After Elvis" — first reported in an exclusive by The U.S. Sun — the 80-year-old matriarch of the Presley dynasty made claims to what she now calls a calculated betrayal.

The memoir is set for release on Tuesday, September 23, 2025. According to The Sun, she alleges Michael preyed on Lisa Marie at her most vulnerable moment, and the pair's marriage was not built on love, but on manipulation, scandal, and a desperate attempt to control a crumbling public image.
"I was appalled by the marriage," Priscilla wrote. "I knew in my bones that Michael wasn't marrying Lisa Marie; he was marrying the Presley dynasty."

Priscilla Alleges Sinister Motives Behind Iconic Marriage
According to explosive details obtained by the outlet, Priscilla accuses Michael of orchestrating the 1994 wedding to distract from the child molestation accusations that swirled around him during the early to mid-1990s.
"Michael was a manipulative man, and I think he had his sights set on her long before she realized it," Priscilla wrote. "The childlike innocence he projected was part of his public mask."
It's a claim that shatters decades of pop culture nostalgia and throws the most talked-about celebrity union of the '90s into an entirely new — and disturbing — light.

According to Priscilla, Michael began reaching out to Lisa Marie at the height of his legal troubles, cultivating a relationship that quickly spiraled into marriage. "I asked her if they had a physical relationship. Like so many people, I wasn't sure, 'She said yeah,'" Priscilla admitted.
Family Tensions and a Mother's Silent Alarm
The actress said she saw through Michael's charm — and watched with unease as her daughter became increasingly entangled in his world. At family events, she recalled that the megastar would avoid engaging with adults, often drifting toward children instead — a behavior that set off silent alarm bells she could no longer ignore.

Lisa Marie confided in her mother that Michael wanted a child with her — a revelation that only deepened Priscilla's fears. Still, despite her pleas for caution, Lisa Marie went through with the marriage. Less than two years later, it was over. "I could practically hear Elvis sigh with relief," Priscilla wrote.

Childhood Ties, Grown-up Consequences
Lisa Marie Presley and Michael Jackson had known each other since their early years, first crossing paths backstage in Las Vegas when she was just seven years old and the pop star was performing with the Jackson 5.
They reconnected as adults in the early '90s — a time when Lisa Marie, then recently divorced from musician Daniel "Danny" Keough, was navigating life as a young mother.

Her first marriage to Daniel in 1988 was a quiet ceremony in the formal parlor of the Celebrity Center International of the Church of Scientology. The couple had two children before parting ways after six years of marriage.
In 1994, she tied the knot with Michael in what the press hailed as the ultimate celebrity power union.
Yet behind the scenes, Lisa Marie hesitated. The King of Pop wanted to start a family. Still, the deceased singer feared what would happen to any children they had if things turned sour — a premonition that proved heartbreakingly accurate.

By 1995, their marriage began to unravel. After Michael's dramatic collapse during HBO rehearsals, Lisa Marie admitted to Oprah Winfrey that he was battling drug issues. She filed for divorce in 1996.
Tragedy, Legacy, and the Presley Pain That Won't Fade
After their split, the King of Pop went on to have three children with two different women before his tragic death in 2009 at age 50 from a drug overdose. Lisa Marie, meanwhile, went on to raise four children — Riley Keough, her late son Benjamin, and twins Harper and Finley Lockwood— and endure unimaginable grief.

In 2023, the unthinkable happened. Lisa Marie died suddenly at 54, from a small bowel obstruction that developed after a bariatric surgery she'd had years prior.
Her ex-husband, Daniel, discovered her unresponsive and alerted Priscilla, who rushed to the hospital. Priscilla told People:
"We were there all day long. Lisa really wasn't breathing, so she was on the ventilator. For hours we were there waiting, hoping and praying until the doctor came in and said, 'Priscilla, I'm so sorry, she's gone.' We just couldn't believe it — didn't want to believe it. It was hard on all of us, it still is."

Now, with "Softly, As I Leave You" set for release, the Presley matriarch is finally speaking her truth — not just about Elvis, or Lisa Marie, but about the weight of fame, the heartbreak of motherhood, and the dark side of an American fairytale gone horribly wrong.
