Beloved 'Beverly Hills, 90210' star tries to stay optimistic after receiving tumor test results

Actress, producer, and director Shannen Doherty is most famously known for her portrayal of Brenda Walsh in 'Beverly Hills 90210.'

Doherty, who will celebrate her 47th birthday on April 12, 2018, is trying to remain positive after the test results for a bone density scan and tumor marker came back.

As reported by Today, the actress announced earlier this month that she was in remission. Doherty was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015.

She informed her 1 million Instagram followers that one of the test results were good, while another was elevated. The higher readings are not necessarily bad news.

Doherty explained that she will be monitored from now on, and more tests might be required in the near future. Despite that, she chooses to remain positive.

"I can’t imagine how it must feel to beat back cancer only to have it return again. I stay positive, stay healthy and do what I can to help promote research so that cancer can be beaten once and for all."

The Girls Just Want To Have Fun star said this was the perfect moment for her reevaluate what is important and that she will be 'taking stock' of her life.

She also added that the higher readings could be from a number of reasons other than cancer, but she is still grateful that it helped her to 'put things in perspective.'

She had learned a lot throughout her journey of battling breast cancer and admits that her life had changed 'in ways no one could ever imagine.'

She is also grateful to have the support of her family and friends. Hours before sharing the test results with her fans, she posted of photo of her mother also getting tested.

Doherty is determined to remain focused throughout it all and is thankful for the opportunity to work in the industry again. Fans can look forward to her upcoming projects.
