6 traditions which keep the Joanna and Chip Gaines family going strong
This couple and their children are not only a success story in terms of their work, but they also hold wonderful values that makes them an inspiring family unit.
Chip and Joanna Gaines of Fixer Upper have fans coming back to the show week after week for much more than just their beautiful designs. It is the loving and gentle way their deal with one another and their children that gets the views.
As reported by Simple Most, there are 6 observable traditions the family lives by, and that the couple are also teaching their four children, Drake, Duke, Ella, and Emmie.
It can't be easy running the various successful businesses they own as well as raising a family (and soon baby will make 5), but the couple makes it work with the values they always work to maintain.
There are a number of things that are obviously a rule for Chip and Joanna, as fans of their show can see it at all times in the way that they work.
1. They always make time for family
Even when Joanna is pressed for time on a design element in a house, she never goes a single night without seeing her children. In these situations, Chip will bring the children to her, and they will even try to help her in her work.
“Family is the most important thing in the world,” Joanna told People magazine.
2. They love to laugh
The couple are always laughing and joking together on Fixer Upper. Even when they aren't in front of the camera, Joanna and Chip's social media accounts are littered with photos of them and their children having fun and being silly.
3. Meals are for bringing people together
Joanna and Chip don't only own a restaurant together, but they have also written a cookbook.
“For me, the cookbook is a celebration of bringing people together, because I think there’s nothing better than gathering around a table with family and friends for a good meal,” Joanna wrote on The Magnolia Table.
4. Hard work is important
This is a lesson it is important to learn early on, and the Gaines' are making sure their children do. One thing Joanna loves to do with her daughters is gardening.
“Gardens are a lot of work, but there’s just something about being in the garden that’s so refreshing,” Joanna told People. “I love teaching the girls about what all goes into gardening.”
5. Share the love
The couple don't only work hard for themselves, but also put their heart and soul into all sorts of other charitable causes as well. They make a real effort to give back the love that is shown them by their fans.
They showed this when Chip offered to cut his hair if his fans "put their money where their mouth is" and donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
6. Appreciate everything in life
Chip and Joanna make a point to be thankful for everything they have, whether it's the little things, or all the success they've enjoyed.
This is evident in the many Instagram posts that offer thanks for something or another. Recently, Joanna shared a photo of their fans, thanking them for the neverending support.
She also celebrated her 40th birthday with a relaxed photo of herself chowing down on a donut, which she captioned: “This is 40. And I like it...”
