Kate Spade’s husband released heartfelt statement day after she committed suicide

A day after Kate Spade was found dead in her apartment, her husband, Andy Spade, has released a statement about the tragic incident. In his message, Andy shared some insight into Kate’s well being.

The note shared with The New York Times revealed that the fashion designer had battled depression and anxiety. However, according to Andy, she was getting treatment for the illness.

In his note regarding his wife’s suicide, Andy described Kate, 55, as the most beautiful woman in the world. He shared that she was the kindest person he had ever known and his best friend for 35 years.

Kate was said to have suffered from depression and anxiety for 5 years. However, she was actively seeking help and working closely with her doctors to treat her disease.

Andy explained that he had been in touch with his wife the night before and she’d sounded happy. There had been no indication that she would take her life.

The news of her suicide came as a complete shock to her husband. He said it wasn’t her as there were personal demons that she was battling.

Andy confessed that for the past 10 months they had been living separately. They made sure that they were within a few blocks of each other.

Their daughter, Beatrix, 13, had been living with both of them. Andy shared that they’d seen and spoken to each other every day.

‘My daughter and I are devastated by her loss, and can’t even begin to fathom life without her. We are deeply heartbroken and miss her already.’

The family ate many meals together and continued to vacation as a family. Andy revealed that they were not legally separated, and had never even discussed divorce.

They’d remained best friends and were trying to work through their problems in the best way they knew how. He explained that they’d loved each other very much and simply needed a break.

Andy shared that his statement was the only truth and anything else was a lie. He said his wife had never abused substances or alcohol.

Nor did they have business problems and they still loved creating together. The couple was still was co-parenting their daughter.

Andy shared that he was yet to see any note Kate left behind. However, he was appalled that a private message to their daughter had been heartlessly shared with the media.

He stated that at this time his main concern was their daughter. He shared that he was focused on protecting her privacy as she deals with the grief of losing her mother.
