Police officer arrested after kicking pregnant woman in the stomach, causing her to give birth
The 26-year-old female officer was off-duty when she attacked the 8-month pregnant woman near Washington Avenue.
Officer Ambar Pacheco of the North Miami Beach Police was arrested for assaulting a pregnant woman on Wednesday July 25, 2018.
As reported by The Miami Herald, She has been charged with one felony count of aggravated battery on a pregnant woman. She has also been fired from the Police department as per their latest statement on Friday morning.
As per the reports, the victim, 8-month pregnant Evoni Murray was with her boyfriend, Joseph Predalus, when they encountered Pacheco with her sister Mikaela Pacheco. The confrontation happened at the busy intersection of Española Way and Washington Avenue.

As per Pacheco's account, Predalus attacked Mikaela Pacheco on the face first, though the reason for that is unknown.
Triggered by the attack on her sister, Officer Pacheco began to physically attack the couple, eventually kicking the very heavily pregnant Murray.
Murray, who is 27 years old, was in immense pain when the Miami Beach Fire Rescue Team arrived at the location. She was immediately transported to Mount Sinai Hospital, which is about three miles from the place of assault.
Murray had started having contractions while being transported, as per the report by the arresting officer. As per the latest updates to the case, she delivered a healthy baby at the hospital and has no further complications so far.
Officer Pacheco, who is only 26 years old, has currently been relieved of her duties until the internal affairs investigation on the incident concludes. Since she has been working for less than a year, she was still under probation during the incident.
Reports also reveal that this is not the first time Pacheco was arrested. She was arrested by the MDPD for a minor count of theft when she was 18.
