TMZ: 'AGT' finalist Michael Ketterer arrested on domestic violence charge

Michael Ketterer came fifth on season 13 of “America’s Got Talent.” However, a day later, he was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

On Thursday afternoon, Ketterer was taken into custody by the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) in Hollywood. He got into a fight with his wife at a hotel.

At 3:45 p.m. on Thursday, Michael Ketterer, 41, was taken into custody at in Hollywood. According to LAPD Officer Drake Madison, this occurred after police officers were called to a hotel in the 1700 block of North Highland Avenue.

The musician was taken into custody on the felony charge and was later released after posting $50,000 bail. According to the “America’s Got Talent” finalist, the whole thing was a big "misunderstanding."

The police noticed a red mark on her body but she told them she didn't want to press charges. However, they arrested Ketterer anyway and told him it was the law.

The case would be downgraded to a misdemeanor because the injury was so minor according to a source. It will also be referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney.

Ketterer made headlines on the reality competition when Simon Cowell hit the Golden Buzzer during his audition. He was then advanced to the live shows.

Cowell was later moved to tears during the contestants’ quarterfinals performance. At the time Ketterer revealed that his wife and daughter had almost died during childbirth.

Last Monday, the father of 6 was shocked to find out that country legend Garth Brooks had responded to Cowell’s semifinals request two weeks before. At the time, the judge had asked Brooks to write a song for Ketterer if he made it to the finals.

During an episode of his Facebook Live video series Inside Studio G, Brooks said,

“I told Simon last week, the opportunity to write, and the opportunity to write for someone else, I haven’t done that in a while.”

Brooks invited the contestant to sing at his sold-out Notre Dame Stadium concert on October 20.

On Tuesday, during part one of the finale, Ketterer enthralled the judges and fans when he sang “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough.” He shared that his performance “was dedicating to my God because he moved mountains.”
