Kris Jenner has been harshly criticized for calling Gladys Knight her BFF on an Instagram post.

Momager Kris Jenner is under fire after a post on Instagram in which she refers to the legendary Gladys Knight as her BFF.

Denizens of the Internet have slammed the 63-year-old reality star, severely criticizing her for appropriating the singer as a "token black friend."

The post that started the Internet buzzing consisted of a photo of Kris and Gladys posing in the Kardashian living room.

Curiously, Kris is wearing black, and Gladys is wearing white, but what angered people was her caption:

"Yep just hanging out at home with my new BFF yesterday…what a JOY and what an angel you are Gladys Knight @msgladysknight !! #pinchme #love #legend #bestthingthateverhappenedtome"

INTERNET EXPRESSED ANGER AT KRIS JENNER

The denizens of the Internet lashed out at Kris, accusing her of appropriating the Black music icon to bolster her own credibility.

"Aww look a Kardashian/Jenner have a new black token friend. Let us celebrate ?"

Other's expressed anger at Gladys Knight and other prominent Black figures:

"She’s very much canceled to me. Along with Travis and a few other prominent black people. If you’re not acting in our best interest, then we don’t need/want you representing us in any way. My opinion."

THE KARDASHIANS AND CULTURAL APPROPRIATION

This is not the first time the Kardashians have come under fire for appropriating Black culture. Both Kylie and Khloé have been slammed for wearing cornrows and rastas.

KRIS JENNER'S BLACK GRANDCHILDREN

The truth is that many of Kris' beloved grandchildren are Black. Kim's children by Kanye West - Saint, North, and Chicago; Khloé's daughter by Tristan Thompson, True; Robert's daughter Dream with Chyna Black; and Kylie's daughter by Travis Scott, Stormi.

Sadly, living in the public eye exposes people to criticism, and what would have been a fan's understandable excitement at meeting their icon has turned Kris Jenner meeting with Gladys Knight a media event.

KRIS JENNER SLAMMED FOR BIRTHDAY MESSAGE

This is not the first time Kris Jenner has been slammed on race-related issues.

Just a year ago, Kris Jenner was slammed for sending a birthday message on Instagram to a friend - fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger - on his 67th birthday on March 24, 2018.

The anger was a result of a rumor that Hilfiger has stated on Oprah Winfrey's show that he would never have designed clothes if he had known that African-Americans, Hispanics, Jews, and Asians would wear it.

The story is untrue, and Oprah invited Hilfiger to her show in order to refute the claims and put an end to the scandal.
