Pauley Perrette Misses Upfronts Presentation for New Show 'Broke' Due to Being Hospitalized
A week ago, actress Pauley Perrette thrilled her fans when she announced that she would be returning to television. However, a hospital stay prevented her from attending the new show’s presentation.
On Wednesday, Pauley Perrette, 50, was hospitalized causing her to miss attending the upfronts presentation for her new CBS show “Broke.” The presentation was held in New York City.
The following day the former "NCIS" actress shared a photo of herself on Twitter revealing that she was still at the hospital. In the image, she was hooked up to a bloody IV and lying in a hospital bed.

Perrette was also dressed in a hospital gown and had her hair styled in a high ponytail. According to the post, the actress appeared to be in good spirits.
She captioned the picture stating: “Well this was my night! No worries, clean bill of health. Just a chance to wear a beautiful gown!” The CBS series, “Broke” would be her first time starring in a network comedy.
The series will also feature "Jane the Virgin" actor Jaime Camil and Natasha Leggero. Both stars were in attendance at the show’s presentation to support its upcoming mid-season.
“Broke” will be about Perrette’s character, Jackie, whose life is turned upside down after her rich sister Elizabeth (Leggero) and her estranged sister’s trust fund-dependent husband Miguel (Camil) move in with her. Camil’s character gets cut off from his trust fund causing the move.
Last year, Perrette left “NCIS” after playing Abby Sciuto for 15 seasons. Speaking during the upfronts Leggero spoke about Perrette saying: “I think Pauley had a lot of choices.”
Adding: “She was very passionate about doing a comedy. She really wanted to do a family comedy. I know those two things for sure.” Camil added about Perrette: “I think she fell in love with the writing. It’s brilliant. Of course, the backbone of every project is the book. So, she fell in love with the book.”
The actor continued:
“She waited one year to pick the right project — as you know, she’s a global, massive star. One of the most beloved American actresses in this country. So, the fact that she chose us makes us very happy.”
Earlier this month Perrette was also hospitalized after falling down at home while trying to retrieve a food delivery. She took to Twitter writing: "Slipped and fell down my concrete stairs tonight getting my pizza delivery. Ouch! Concrete slide!”
The first trailer for the new series was recently released. It allows fans to meet Perrette's new character and have a taste of the role she will now be playing.
This time the star will deal with much less blood and body parts.
