Meghan Markle & Prince Harry Celebrate 1st Wedding Anniversary by Sharing Never-Before-Seen Pics
Last year, on May 19, Prince Harry and Duchess Megan got married at St George’s Chapel. On Saturday, the pair celebrated their first wedding anniversary with a behind the scenes post on Instagram.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex got married on the grounds of Windsor Castle last year. To celebrate their wedding anniversary, the pair took to their personal Instagram to share a video commemorating their wedding day.
The video included images from their special day that had never been seen before. The photos included mostly black and white images and a few color ones.
The caption on the post read:
“Happy one year anniversary to Their Royal Highnesses, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex! Today marks the one year anniversary of the wedding of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex.”
The post further read:
“Their Royal Highnesses exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel within the grounds of Windsor Castle on May 19th, 2018. The selected song “This Little Light of Mine” was chosen by the couple for their recessional. We hope you enjoy reliving this moment, and seeing some behind the scenes photos from this special day.”
The statement concluded with a direct message from the Sussex’s which concluded:
“A message from The Duke & Duchess: Thank you for all of the love and support from so many of you around the world. Each of you made this day even more meaningful.”
On its Twitter account, The Royal Family also shared a celebratory message for the couple. They wrote:
“Wishing The Duke and Duchess of Sussex a very happy wedding anniversary. Today marks one year since Their Royal Highnesses exchanged vows at St George’s Chapel in the grounds of Windsor Castle.”
On their post, they included a color image which was posted on the couple’s personal Instagram account. In the image, Harry was seen leaning in to kiss his bride while throngs of people stood by taking images with their phones.
After their wedding, the pair jumped right into their Royal duties. Their first official engagement as a married couple was at a garden party held to celebrate Prince Charles' charity work.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex had a lot to celebrate on Saturday including the birth of their first child, Mountbatten-Windsor. The little boy was born on May 6.
Unlike her sister-in-law, Duchess Kate, Meghan and Harry chose to not appear in public as soon as Archie was born. Instead, the pair took their time and appeared in public when they were ready.
They had their pre-arranged press call with a handful of selected outlets two days after their child was born.
