Meghan Markle Reportedly Asked British TV Host to Set Her up with ‘Famous British Man’

Meghan Markle wanted to date a distinguished British man, a former friend reveals. She also said she was "ghosted" by the Duchess since meeting Prince Harry.

Before Prince Harry came into the picture, Meghan Markle already had her sights on dating a reputable British man. This was the revelation the Duchess’ former acquaintance revealed recently.

IN SEARCH OF A BRITISH MAN

English television star Lizzie Cundy shared details of her encounter with Meghan three years ago and how that ended with the latter ghosting her.

Speaking to The Sun, Lizzie recalled striking a friendship with the new royal mom after accompanying her to a charity dinner in London in 2013.

She claims Meghan asked her for help to find a suitable date. She had just divorced her husband, Trevor Engelson, three months earlier and told Lizzie she was open to partying and mingling with UK celebrities.

Lizzie, whose autobiography “Tales from the Red Carpet” features stories about her encounters with celebrities thought of setting up Meghan with Ashley Cole who had split from Cheryl. However, when she showed a photo of him to the “Suits” star, she thought he was cute but asked if he had a reputation.

According to the former wife of Spurs and Chelsea defender Jason Cundy, Meghan’s words were,

“‘Do you know any famous guys? I’m single and I really love English men.’”

Lizzie, whose autobiography “Tales from the Red Carpet” features stories about her encounters with celebrities thought of setting up Meghan with Ashley Cole who had split from Cheryl.

However, when she showed a photo of him to the “Suits” star, she thought he was cute but asked if he had a reputation. When Lizzie said yes, Meghan was hesitant.

Lizzie was impressed with Meghan’s relaxed nature when they met up again the following day at the Global Gift Gala in West London. “Meghan’s so relaxed, she liked a drink, great fun,” she said.

She also admired how the former television star was more interested in learning about her sons than talking about herself. They kept in touch after that.

Lizzie believes, much like what happened with Piers Morgan, Meghan was forced to cut ties with a lot of people.

But things changed when Meghan met Harry. Surprised by the news, Lizzie texted the Duchess about it and her short reply was,

“'Yeah I know. We’ll try and hook up’.”

That was the last she heard from Meghan. Neither did she get an invitation to the wedding. Lizzie believes, much like what happened with Piers Morgan, Meghan was forced to cut ties with a lot of people.

“She was probably told by the Palace to end contact with people she befriended in the media. I was literally ghosted by her.”

Lizzie’s revelations come on the heels of Piers’ earlier claims that Meghan was a social climber. The news anchor expressed his disappointment after Meghan stopped communicating with him since her association with Prince Harry.

He said they were friends for a two-year period and would even have drinks in London. The last time she heard from him was the night she went to a party Prince Harry also attended which led to their first date.

GETTING ON THE MEDIA'S WORST SIDE

Since her widely covered wedding to Prince Harry, Meghan’s relationship with the media has taken a turn for the worse.

Headlines would often place her in a bad light accusing her of being difficult to her staff, of feuding with Kate Middleton, and who could forget the numerous scandals involving her father, Thomas Markle and her half-sister, Samantha Markle.

CHANGING TACTICS

It’s not surprising that Meghan would shy away from the media that’s been tearing her apart. The Palace at one point had to intervene after comments on social media were out of control.

Now the Sussexes are trying to find a way to win the media’s hearts again while controlling what’s out there. They recently launched their own Instagram account which promises to be a more intimate venue for them to share their stories. Both are reportedly very involved in what is shared in the account which now has 8.3 million followers.
